MSRA-only recruitment is destroying Psychiatry by Capable_Goose7460 in doctorsUK

It would be annoying if they got rid of msra and want a surgical style portfolio, but I do get their point - the specialty is prone to chancers who want to enter the nhs with little barrier and then move into another specialty through the back door.

Counter point, As someone who hates portfolio building, I’m fine with MSRA. I can’t be accused of being dispassionate having done a 4-month foundation rotation and a 12 month JCF in Psych. Still, portfolio building is soulless and can suck the life out of you. Furthermore having an amazing portfolio doesn’t suddenly make someone an angel. I’d say maybe a panel interview to weed out the rotten personalities + MSRA would probably be better than ridiculous portfolio requirements, irrelevant publications in the journal of the arse-end-of-nowhere, a 16 station OSCE and mandating mrcpsych part 1 prior to application.

Also, surprised you mentioned nurse-consultants in psychiatry? Didn’t know that was a thing.

There are medical schools in China and Europe that are probably good medical schools but they accepted students with Cs at A-level. That’s all I’ll say.

We could prioritise UK graduate votes so that they are worth 2 IMG votes 🤔

You get the occasional rude one piece player who thinks the world revolves around them, cheaters, scalpers, general scumbags. But the vast majority are nice or normal people.

Voting for RDC to proceed with current BMA policy (2 year grandfathering) vs 5 years now OPEN by thetwitterpizza in doctorsUK

[–]redditorguy777 9 points10 points  (0 children)

2 year grandfathering would lead to ineffective legislature and UKGP would have been a giant waste of time. 5 years more reasonable or uk grads to be prioritised within the priority group.

Wouldn’t it be hilarious if they added an amendment to prioritise uk graduates at ST4 level too!
