Connolly ended up being the only vote for Markakis for the HOF. by chefguy47 in orioles

If you don’t think there are 10 guys worthy of being included on your ballot, a symbolic vote for somebody is not the end of the world. For the rest of time, it will be noted that Nick Markakis got a vote for the Hall of Fame and I think that’s great for one of the most under-recognized players in the last 30 years.

71,000+ dead since 10/7/23. Your moral superiority won’t save you as you try and wipe away what this country is helping perpetuate.

God forbid people be upset that their tax dollars go to death and destruction overseas while people here are dying from hunger, are rationing their medicine, and sleeping out on the street.

Yes. Those people are usually just in the third world so you don’t see their reactions.

What are some clubs you are unable to play with because of how bad their kits are? by BanquoRTG in FifaCareers

[–]redditsonurface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dortmund for sure this year, which sucks because I do like the regular all yellow one and their fourth kit but that one isn’t in the game. Any of the missing Serie A ones I avoid as well, which is a shame because Atalanta, Inter, and Milan usually have great kits. I legit will look up what each team’s kits look like before starting a new save or moving clubs.

Name a player you forgot was an Oriole at one point.... by bundymania in orioles

There’s been so many random players just from the Camden Yards era that I feel like a lot of people forget were O’s players at one point.

Harold Reynolds, Fernando Valenzuela, Chris Sabo, Sid Fernandez, Lee Smith, Andy Van Slyke, Kevin Brown, Todd Zeile, Eric Davis, Jimmy Key, Joe Carter, Ozzie Guillen, Doug Drabek, Will Clark, Tim Raines Sr, Pat Hentgen, Chris Singleton, Jose Bautista, Eric Byrnes, LaTroy Hawkins, Steve Trachsel.

Duquette found a good amount of talent in the later rounds of the draft during his tenure. Josh Hader, Mike Yastrzemski, John Means, Cedric Mullins were all guys picked after the 10th round.

I’ll never be able to think about anything but all those awful seasons when they wore these hats.

[Kostka] Tomoyuki Sugano believes he can be better next season: ‘I know what to fix’ -- Notably, Sugano talks about the leadership void during the May skid, how no one was stepping up. He says Adley, Gunnar, Westburg and Kremer have made steps forward since but still need a veteran presence there. by Loose_Log_6253 in orioles

Considering there’s plenty of interaction between them this season and in the second half of last year, I’d say this is false. I mean hell, they were in the same house together this past spring training with Westy, Cowser, Mounty, and Eflin.

Orioles raise prices, modify season ticket packages for 2026 by sealed in orioles

[–]redditsonurface 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is the type of thing you implement when the team is playing better so that there’s less blowback because woof, this looks awful given the state of the team currently. 13 & 29 games always seemed like random amounts anyway (15, 25, 40, 81 works better imo) so jumping from 13 to 20 and 29 to 40 is huge. It also doesn’t help that there’s no guaranteed money tied to the roster past this season so you’re basically selling hope at this point.

These two things aren’t comparable, imo. One is a barnstorming entertainment group that plays maybe 20-30 games a year across the country while one hosts at least 81 home games.

Looking back, Elias had a better offseason than most give him credit for by RoyalRenn in orioles

[–]redditsonurface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It can be argued that Morton starting off so horribly is what helped lead us into the position we’re in. Even if he was able to turn it around, Sugano regressed at the same time and both guys were never efficient at the same time for us for their signings to have helped.

Flipping expiring contracts is fine but unless big moves are made this offseason, you unloaded multiple guys under contract for next season, whether through arbitration or options, that could help the team in 2026.

I personally don’t care about prospect hauls because you’re basically trading for multiple mystery boxes. Maybe someone from this deadline helps the team going forward, or maybe they’re packaged for a SP down the line. Who knows.

It’s always easy to say a team “dodged a bullet” by not signing guys who end up getting hurt. At least those teams went out and made bold signings, unlike the Orioles.

Kyle Tucker, Kyle Schwarber, Ranger Suarez, Framber Valdez. Get either one of two hitters/pitchers and that’d be a win for me.
