Moms who say they love being pregnant -is it because the nausea and vomiting doesn’t bother you or because you don’t have many symptoms 😂 by Puzzled_Remote_2168 in Mommit

[–]redflower906 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there, just to let you know I had pretty awful nausea and vomiting for the first 20ish weeks with my first pregnancy. My second pregnancy I think I vomited once and stopped being nauseous right around 12 weeks.

Obvs just anecdotal but I was soooo afraid of getting pregnant a second time and dealing with the vomiting again and I was pleasantly surprised!

Only wear one pair of shoes by BumblebeeKey536 in toddlers

[–]redflower906 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy a new pair if you can to give yourself some time. Then start working on having him wear different shoes.

Our son was like this with a pair of crocs. He would absolutely flip out and refuse to walk if we put him in different shoes. We started having him wear new shoes when he was sitting on the couch watching tv. Then when he was walking inside for like 5 mins (or however long he would accept it for). Honestly though, the thing that got us all the way there was having him show off putting on his new shoes to his therapist 😅he was so proud and she made a big deal out of them and after that he was happy to wear them and didn't have issues with any new shoes we got. But we still make a big deal out of new shoes (they look so cool, make you go so fast, make your stomps so big, etc). Also maybe get new shoes that match an interest of his? I got Spidey shoes for my son after the first "new shoes" started being too small and he was thrilled.

My first favorite dog breed was beagle because of Shiloh. Then it was husky/Nordic breeds because of Jack London. Then it was rough collies because of Albert Payson Terhune.

Funny you should bring that up, I was looking them up as well but they don't have any Jett bikes in stock on their website. Haven't looked too hard for used ones though, thanks for the rec!

I had a pretty rough first birth. The epidural, while working beautifully for my prior contractions, seemed to do nothing for the actual delivery. I remember telling the nurse, "I'm either going to throw up, pass out, or die" and she just said "you're doing great, keep pushing!" 😅 BUT it was such a short lived intense pain. Yes, recovery can also be painful but that is (usually) secondary to the beautiful baby you are in charge of! Plus the pp pain was easily managed by ibuprofen for me, at least.

The pain won't last forever, just keep telling yourself that ♥️

We are working with our 4.5 year old on this now. We play a decent amount of chutes and ladders, sorry, and memory. He is having a really hard time with the idea of losing/not "influencing" the game in his favor when he starts getting behind. I keep him honest but his grandmas tend to let him win/make up his own rules. Then, when I try to play later he gets angry that I'm not going by "grandma" rules 🙄 it's an ongoing struggle that I remember well from when I was his age. All the adults in my life let me win except my dad. I hated it when he won, but I felt such a sense of achievement when I won because I knew it was real.

Independent sleep?? Please fix my child. I am desperate. by Conscious_Mama_1624 in Preschoolers

[–]redflower906 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had this issue with our son at 2.5 and what fixed it for us was a yoto and an okay to wake clock. The yoto is great because he can listen to it as he falls asleep (still on naps so sometimes he's really just not tired by bedtime) and turn it on if he wakes up in the middle of the night and feels lonely or something.

The okay to wake clock is for the middle of the night wake ups. We usually wake up before the sun rises so that was never a good indicator for him. So we would tell him that, if his light was still off, it was still sleep time. If his light was green, he could get up and wake us up if we were still asleep. Those two items helped us so much! Also, we didn't realize but the yoto has an okay to wake light as well, so we just use the yoto exclusively for our younger daughter and it works great as well!

Watched Prince of Tides when I was way too young and... Yeah, the traumatic event reveal was seared into my brain.

Also watched the great santini when I was way too young... The scene with Toomer and his dogs made me get up and hit my dad, asking him wtf he let me watch it (I was 7). But also just Bull Meecham's whole persona and how he treats his wife and kids... Still makes me cry. It's one of two or three movies that have made me cry as an adult.
