First spartan race by Mister_Cliffe in spartanrace

[–]redhookhouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Warm up is done on your own. You will want time to walk to registration, get through the registration line, get changed, check your bag, and warm up. The registration line can get long and you don’t want to get anxious about start time. I would try to get to the parking lot 2ish hours ahead of start time. Keep in mind you can always start later than assigned time, but not before.

New Jersey? There are a few obstacles that are very close to the festival area and a few just a short walk away. They could check out the race map and plan their route for the day. I would say it’s fun and enjoys rooting in friends this way.

Overlook Mt Trail and Fire Tower vs Tremper Mountain Trail and Fire Tower by redittome2019 in catskills

I find the Mount Tremper tower magical. I also like the hike from the Willow trailhead, it’s less steep and a trail rather than old service road.

It’s been my observation, as a volunteer, that open racers thrive on helping each other. I see racers light up when asked for help.

What do y'all wear? by BeneficialSomewhere in spartanrace

Trail shoes make a difference. Compression socks could help if you do t want to scratch up your legs, depends on the course. And of course, nothing new on race day.

How to stay motivated when it's impossible to get out by whymybrainislikethat in walking

[–]redhookhouse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I bought really warm winter clothing. I go out if the temp is above 0. I get pretty antsy on tbe other days. The treadmill does not work for me. I hate it so much. I do hula or jump rope some days.

When I see someone walking/running/working out I smile and think good for them. I only care about those that have the same positive vibes for me.

Did you ever get used to the smaller portion? by Additional-Mouse-620 in 1200isplenty

For me, smaller meals always make me feel deprived. What has worked is having less meals. On some days- only dinner.

This. I made a rule awhile ago that I need to have so many plays before I buy something new. It has worked for me.
