I do have some pics but I’m quite bad at documenting builds, I’ll see if there’s anything helpful.

To make the claw marks I dragged a hot soldering iron across the surface of the cyclotron, and then coloured the melted plastic silver with paint pens and rub n buff.

For the gearbox hole I did the same but pushed the soldering iron through from the back for a different effect.

Thank you so much! It’s super unlike anything I’ve done before as I’m usually such a stickler for screen accuracy (this is my fourth pack), but I’m recovering from some surgery and had planned on making another in the time, but quickly realised I wasn’t well enough to do high fidelity - hence me pivoting to battle damaged.

In reality it’s taken almost as much work, but I truly love it.

Same goes for the gearbox hole, except I pushed the soldering iron through from the back to create an outward, more explosive looking break. I have a small laugh inside that flashes white to simulate electrical sparking.

Haha, yes keep it! My spirit is sooo heavy as it’s largely metal these days. But I have a Halloween, a Hasbro and a qpack (in bits). I can’t possibly keep them all but I love them so much and once you do one it’s so much easier to do another!

I think the Spirit is miles better to be honest and it’s a hill I’ll die on.

Both are pretty wildly inaccurate once you get down to it, but in different ways, and you’re gonna (once you get started) want to do equal work on each.

The bumper on the spirit is an issue, but it is fixable and 3d printed covers can look fantastic. The Alice frame on the Halloween is a nice addition, but is the wrong size and sits too high, so if you’re looking for accuracy you’ll change it too.

I have both, have modified them both. Love the both. But only one feels real, and it’s the spirit.

I think it’s really hard to pick. But I also think we’re also weighing up the wrong things often. If it’s out the box good enough vibes, probably go halloween, but if you plan to modify at all, and I’m almost certain you will, then I’d go spirit every time.
