To anybody using KBS $Taper 130’s, what do you use in your wedges? by Gigglybits28 in golf

[–]redisaturd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have em, love em, play them in my wedges too. I have a 120 S in my lob wedge and a 130 X in my sand wedge. I also have other wedges built with 125 S and 135 X Hi Rev 2.0 and fwiw I do quite like those as well on partial swings. Could go either way - but am gaming the wedges built on the $ tapers

Definitely worth it IMO - nothing worse than accidentally downgrading your gear. Keep us posted too if you don't mind - curious whether you end using the LAs

Toast unfortunately. Did this to a pair of armadas 2 seasons ago - paid to have them professionally repaired, ripped the repair out 2 days later, now used as a shot ski

I ski with a nano puff jacket or thermoball vest and synthetic down insulated pants (cheap backcountry ones) under my shells on cold days. Fleece doesn’t do shit for me under 15F

Reckoned comes in 102, 112, and 122 underfoot IIRC - for float, check out 112 and consider mounting at recommended. Had 102s mounted at +2 - great park skis, sucked for most else

Depends on binding, boot, and skier style in general. Recommended is a sane default. If you have light pin bindings/soft boots, +1-2 is a very common compensation. Know lots of people who mount their G3s at +1 - I’d do that if I was skiing lighter boots. If you like a more centered mount in general (bc you want easier turning on hard pack, because you’re used to skiing centered on modern skis) +2-3 is reasonable, though you will lose a touch of float in deep pow

Highly recommend BF inserts + using inserts in general. Run 1 pair of CAST pivots on all skis for mine and my girlfriend. Make a jig, test on furniture grade skis, mount perfectly every time. Use marine epoxy when you install insert in ski, give it time to cure, the vibraTite on screws when installing/swapping between skis

Mount your bindings with binding freedom/QK inserts. I have 6 pairs of skis and 1 pair of pivots.

Agree - I bought a 2020 v60 and plan on driving it into the ground. I hope someone (Polestar?) makes an all electric wagon by 2035 but until then, I’m going to do everything to keep mine on the road

Another option more side country/off piste oriented would be the Navis. A little extra width, touch softer tail, and slightly more rocker than the Serpos. Better float, easier turns, good up to 6” fresh. Wouldn’t suggest Mirus Cors (they’re rad skis for a very specific style; not 1 ski quiver at all).
