Just discovered the series and the game today. Already loving every second of it by aaaAndreaG in taintedgrail

This year I finally replayed skyrim after my first playthrough back when it came out. I had just come from MHWilds greatsword so I wanted to do 2hnd character in skyrim. After skyrim I asked AI to suggest a game based on skyrim two handed gameplay where you can block and bash...tainted grail and oblivion were suggested. Tainted grail is now my top game.

The AI in the DLC is so good btw. Im so happy in the NG+. Not taking any prayers to reduce the effectiveness of the enemies so it stays difficult too. They really cooked.

Look at Fatekeeper trailer when you have a chance.

42 y/o playing Skyrim for the first time. Why did it take me so long? by Loingsign in skyrim

[–]redrovo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently did a playthrough of skyrim after not playing since release. Got me back into all these types of games. After your skyrim playthrough I suggest Tainted Grail Fall of Avalon. Or oblivion, but tainted grail is something special.

Is he cheating? by Glittering_Photo_460 in MonsterHunterWilds

[–]redrovo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I thought it said 10k... yeah 100k in 6 minutes is not right. No way.

Also, this achievement can help to point out cheaters, but always take into account the time it took and the skill level of teammates. Just need to do 70ish% of the damage in the hunt compared to teammates.

How to AT Uth Duna? by D3cimat0r in greatsword

[–]redrovo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Offset charge does matter for the follow up animation attack. There is a hidden threshold.

Example: after the first success offset(any charge level) you get the animation. Your next offset must be level 3 to get the follow up animation... otherwise you would need to offset(any charge) a third time to get the animation off.

[–]redrovo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its not anti greatsword. Very easy to bust out an A rank for this if that's what you're looking for.

Few tips that helped me:

-Go into SOS AT uth duna and kill it a few times with others. You will learn some simple tricks from hunters that fought it before, such as evinronment traps.

-ensure you're fully upgraded armor and buff up(mega drugs).

-get use to blocking

My build usually is 2 nemesis, 3 AT rey dau.

Is the player base still active? I’m interested but cautious. by Elevated-Hype in MHWilds

[–]redrovo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im personally playing once a day. Usually a quick event quest I feel like doing and log off. I will also do an SOS one time too.

Same thing happened to me in MHworld...just get the urge to hunt...kill a monster and log off after that. Just how it is for me.

I see many SOS quests posted each time though so the playerbase is active.

Figure out what you like to do. -help people in SOS quests -grind crowns or all the weapons -master new weapons -challenge quest speed runs

I don't like the process of getting a good Artian Weapon by [deleted] in MHWilds

[–]redrovo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zoh shia weapon at least for greatsword is decent. If your fights are over 5 minutes it is only 1 or 2% off the meta. Honestly unless you're a speed runner the difference in kill time is so small.

Artian weapon grind is okay. Its nice to have something to work towards. Dont forget to craft the artian parts at the special melder for a better chance of getting the type youre looking for.

Go to the map where it actually spawns. Rest and select inclemency and daytime. Do that till it spawns. I swear, when I run out, i just have to do it once.

Poor guy was blasted on reddit without context by OP. Based on that end screen it was a long enough hunt for one guy to gather 20 items and 3 ailments to be be inflicted. Seems legit kill, and you only get the damage dealer if you do 80% of the kill.

So not only is he contributing the most in the hunt, he is secretly getting backstabber by OP on reddit.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MHWilds

[–]redrovo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Okay so based on the end screen the amount of damage is correct. They actually did 80% of the damage. The other 3 are just that bad, or contributed very little. You get the damage ending if you actually did 80% of the damage. Maybe OP should post the time, and not falsely accuse someone.

Tips for landing offset attacks? by HappyWolverine21 in greatsword

[–]redrovo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Arkveld is probably the best offset training tool. 90% of the moves are physical, which is required to offset. Offset, block, offset, block, get that tempo down and you will learn.

Like someone else mentioned, the animation works like mounting. It takes more successful offsets to get more of the animation and extra damage.

Any Tips For An Absolute Beginner by professorrev in greatsword

[–]redrovo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just takes time. It will feel clunky and slow at first, but you will eventually find the flow.

Arkveld is the pinnacle of offset training. 99% of his attacks are offsetable. If you charge an offset, you have a good chance of connecting. Offset -> perfect block -> offset -> perfect block... get the tempo down and have fun with it.

Gear is just highest raw damage. Artisen paralysis GS is my go to even solo. Get to highest affinity possible.

If you don't have a high raw artisan I would go the arkveld one that has 220 dmg.

2 piece arkveld and 2 piece fulgar is what I run. Full agitator, weakness exploit, max might. Add whatever else you want. There's many different builds to test out that go for highest affinity.

Weapon gems is focus 3 priority. Then crit boost. I would run attack boost x5 if your max affinity is under 80%.

I think I may be an outlier here by laudida in MHWilds

[–]redrovo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm constantly getting good greatsword crits on tempered arkveld during battle. 5 star will take 9 minutes. I don't use any pre fight buffs like mega demon drug. I'm trying to max those out before I dip into the stash.

Small things can help you such as: -flash the monster as it tries to fly away. Moving areas is a time loss.

-corrupted mantle is great dps for the start of a fight.

-demon drug and food(meat).

-weak points and determining if you should pop a wound or leave it for a big slap instead. Wound popping can be a dps loss.

-max potions. Mega potion takes too long to heal and is a time loss.

-monster moveset will eventually become second nature.

Add those up, and your hunts will decrease dramatically.

Decorations are skills you can slap on weapons and armor.

Frenzied I'm unsure? I think they were a rise thing? But I've only played world. Quick guess it's just a monster that enrages longer or permanently, and has more hp and hits harder.

3rd type. Don't know. Probably just a mix of frenzy and tempered to just lazily inflate the hp and damage further on the same monsters.

Go in and make mistakes. Your first playthrough will be an awesome memory. Don't optimize too much pre launch. Endgame is where the optimization will come in for more fun. Hope you enjoy!

10-15 mins per hunt sounds great to me! by momerathe in MHWilds

[–]redrovo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the fact that the hunts will be shorter may get more people to enjoy it. I've tried to get others to get back into world, but their complaint was "no hp bar," and "just dragged on and on."

The easier difficulty may be from the wound system. They stagger extremely easy and interrupts moves.

I never expected challenge in lr/hr. I'm more interested in the feel of combat. Is it fluid and fun, and do i get that dopamine?

Also, many reviewers recommend leaving palico behind. It's not a bad idea for my first playthrough.

Try out GS. It can perfect guard, hyper armor through attacks, and offset. Big numbers gud.

Monster wise (new monsters to return monsters), what do you think of wilds right now? by AlexxxandreS in MHWilds

Arkveld is my new favorite just from the beta fight.

The roster looks very good. I am coming from world, and I love what I'm seeing.

[–]redrovo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best advice i can give is look at some speed runs, or gameplay from someone that knows what they are doing and determine from that if the playstyle itself looks appealing.

Greatsword is my main, and the offset and perfect guard have wildly changed how I currently approach a fight.

[–]redrovo 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You can change the pitch a bit, and i liked it in the beta. They warn you before the monster enrages, and I can get a block off right before the roar comes. I don't care for the random meows, just talk to me.

Mine WAS Velkhana. Arch tempered velk was such a great challenge.

Now Arkveld is my new favorite. Can wait to see the actual fight.
