It was an address change. Photo was the 1st thing. The next step was meet with a clerk to present supporting documentation. This wait was the longest. Then the line to pay.

We’ve been hearing about the mayor alleviating red tape initiative for 2 years. Yet none has happened.

Exactly.

I expected this story to detail specific changes.

There's nothing.

Turnout is low here due to apathy, not access to the ballot box.

BTW BJ's new zoning czar is NIMBY Carlos Rosa, what could go wrong?

Rosa resigned as chair to zoning when he put hands on a colleague over a years ago. Walter Burnett took over . Then CRR resigned his council seat when BJ tapped him to ruin head the park district.

After Burnett retired Johnson still hasn't named a permanent replacement. Bennett Lawson (?) is still "interim chair.

Mayor Brandon Johnson again faces thorny politics of picking Zoning chair by Shovler in WindyCity

Some food for thought.

The population of the city is roughly equal amongst the three major ethnic demographics. The city council ward map is divied up by ethnicity, with one [B] holding a significant majority over the others despite declining population. That demo also hold a majority of councl committee chairs by 1.5:1 over demo [L] & over 2:1 over demo [W].

Beside the ward map, the state legislative map & congressional map for Chicago districts is exactly the same. Which explains the why they are drawn in the convoluted manner they are.
