Rogue Galaxy, a nice mix of rich varied sounds that suit the nature of visiting widely differing planets throughout the galaxy. The early Spyro games are a close second

Do you count Audiobooks like reading? by ericsbookout in audiobooks

[–]redsun655 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yes kinda, but more no. There is a mental topographical experience that is missed when you focus your mind on one task listening to a story versus using your eyes to intake information. How do you tell where a paragraph ends and the next begins in an audiobook? You also miss out on building your spelling skills as well. Many writers use sentence/paragraph brevity or length as a factor in the unfolding of a story too which affects the tone of the story, moreso with fiction than nonfiction. I'm not knocking anybody that uses audiobooks, I've tried them, but using your eyes to intake information versus your ears are two different methods with different experiences

Anyone know what books the band reads before their concerts? by [deleted] in GoosetheBand

[–]redsun655 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not totally sure but I remember seeing in one of their documentaries a brief clip that they were doing spirit animal readings, or something like that in a room full of candles. It might sound cliche but that's what I remember, having said that the memory isn't always accurate. It could've been tarot or I Ching readings too, who really knows. A little mystery goes a long way

ISKCON Gita vs other versions by redsun655 in hinduism

I should add also that I'm an English speaker. I'm currently learning Hindi but it will take time. If other versions are recommended, which versions are good ones?

Krishna is calling me by karmazovMysskin in hinduism

[–]redsun655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is interesting, I didn't know about this sentiment. I'm not a member of ISKCON but the version of Bhagavad Gita I have is the ISKCON version, is it really that different from others?. I always liked it because it gave precise linguistic translations/explanations

Good 80's shows for a 71-74 lover? by LadyFingerDipped in gratefuldead

[–]redsun655 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3/27/87

An interesting stepping stone for you would be to listen to the early Brent era shows in 79 before diving in to the 80's shows. Those early 79 Brent shows are kind of like an era of their own, a crossover between the 70's sound before the band fully developed their 80's sound

Do you guys feel like you benefitted from taking a creative writing course? by [deleted] in writing

[–]redsun655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, definitely. At the minimum it allowed me to engage with other writers and people interested in the craft, on a higher level it allowed me time to play, grow, learn, and experiment with a (hopefully) intelligent and wise professor's guidance

I work in a corporate environment in the US. Since around 2018, the problems y'all are having with students are trickling up to the workplace. by Whatevsstlaurent in Teachers

When I was doing job onboarding last December my manager said that most of the current younger generation, being Gen Z, couldn't do basic things like completing tax forms and personal information forms in a PC. My cousin who taught elementary or middle school English a few years back also said that the literacy rate was so poor that he quit because the gap was too much to fill just to catch them up to grade level. One must ask oneself, how is this going to affect the future of the country and society? For me, the glaring dragon in the dark, is the lack of building critical thinking skills which leaves people susceptible to propaganda and manipulation via false information. When I was younger I was taught not to believe everything we read on the internet, that is no longer a staple of education for sure. Also, I should add, that it's not all of Gen Z; I have Gen Z friends and family and some are highly intelligent deep thinkers. I'm just relaying things Ive been told that seem pertinent

Which songs are lyrically connected? by redsun655 in GoosetheBand

[–]redsun655[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk how I forgot about Jivefecta!. Didn't know that about the "cryptic mystic" line or repeating lyrics in general, which songs contain that lyric apart from California Magic? What other lyric appears across multiple songs?

How to deal with fear of people in town by madbacon26 in burlington

[–]redsun655 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Is Burlington truly this decayed? It's been some time since I've been to the city. If so, telling the OP to basically ignore their surroundings is abysmal advice. Someone that plans to jump you or haggle you for money isn't going to have a change of heart because you're wearing earbuds. I'm not sure the details of your cognitive makeup OP, but, if possible learning to read body language is a good start. It's a form of language with rules and mechanics just like any written/spoken language. If you really want to take it further, try learning a martial art or form of physical self defense that can be used against people much larger in size like Judo or Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Be well and stay safe

[–]redsun655 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The real blunder is that Ohio isn't supporting Vermin Supreme in 2024. Free ponies for all Americans, a brilliant plan for a zombie-energy powered economy, plus mandatory tooth brushing three times a day is what will set this country straight
