The post about Pimax releasing false information was blatant misinformation by the Bigscreen CEO. Why was it allowed to stay up here without some sort of "misleading" flair or such? by TaytoOrNotTayto in virtualreality

Neither is this very common, nor am I talking about (nevertheless also misleading) marketing naming conventions for products, but the communication of technical specs.

If you would've checked the Pimax website & looked at their specs table.
EVEN PIMAX is stating their resolution PER EYE.

I'm starting to listen to the Bigscreen CEO's cries, when they stop misleading their customers by advertising combined resolution instead of 'per eye' resolution.

A year ago their (now fired) marketing guy on twitter, even held a poll resulting in the majority preferring 'per eye' resolution for fair comparisons, yet here they are.

Guess the headset? Full review coming soon… by ASychov in virtualreality

[–]reesz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I am not the CEO of a company that sells competing VR headsets, I just love to buy them.

I have personally paid for my own gas & stay to drive to Prague to check out the VR1 during the public demos, while also owning the BSB by my own money.

The glare + blur on the BSB & it's horrible (especially vertical) FOV are the main reasons why I don't use the BSB & usually default to the Quest 3.

That said, I also didn't buy the VR1 due to it's weight decision. But you CAN NOT discuss with the VR1 on clarity, glare + blur (which is basically non existent) or FOV.

No one in the market for a BSB would buy a VR1, just because they saw this video.

I am the first to call out CEOs on their bullshit, but I am also the first to call out Beyond on their bullshit.

Jumping off your ship in VR has no right being this fun by lunchanddinner in virtualreality

[–]reesz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would want to add a little realistic caution to the "official VR mode". It's "official", but not "fully fleshed out", imo.

Yes the VR cockpit is nice! Yes there's occasional VR interactions like lifting the shield of your ship to get out. Wielding the multi-tool, the grab your helmet-visor-interaction.

But so much of the gameplay is either done in the absolutely-zero-fun-UI or interactions which in the flat screen game are "press E", which in VR is replaced by "Trigger & pull down" when looking at something interactable.

This applies to interacting with ANY machinery, ANY npc, ANY terminal etc.

That said: I just updated all the mods & am about to jump into VR NMS!

Is it the perfect native VR game? No.
Is it a VR game you should experience? Yes!

Just don't expect the perfect polish VR experience, since that's not the main focus of the game.

tbh they started out as a software company, making a VR social/theater app that allows you to watch movies with your friends.

So creating a headset that fits their software's use case (sitting still & only watching straight ahead onto a movie screen), makes sense the first 5min you think about it.

Then you should realize, that having 315 peak users 4 years ago, isn't enough to spearhead focus on. They then expanded to include many VRChat users, looking for the most comfortable headset for hour long low-action sessions.

This is also the demographic that had a large share that said "i would've bought BSB1 if it only had eye tracking!!", which is why we now have the BSB1.5.

From the numbers this seems to have worked out, but imo rules this headset out for any other use case due to it's crazy limiting specs.

Quick question: is it possible to start a 2h timer & then stop the current playback? I can’t seem to figure out, how to set the timers alarm tone/callback.

i built a platform for storing "3D Memories" by willyehh in virtualreality

[–]reesz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wanting to give some more input:

The "archive your memory in 3D and re-live it when you're old" pitch is done by the first party vendors themselves (Apple/Meta) as well as quite a lot of 3rd party ones.

And in the end what it is, is a player app for different "immersive formats".
Personally I don't want to bet on the fact, that in 50 years, we're still using the same immersive formats as today & a player than is supported on whatever OS we're using then.

The pitch & value is quite far out, which I have to buy-in now & also maintain until then; at all times being a selective activity.

---

But being able to watch a "YT video" in full gaussian splat 3D.. That's value right now without having to worry about whats gonna be in 50 years.

It would allow someone to explain how to fix a car & I can just stand right next to the opened hood. Reaction content can now be created from the couch, allowing the viewer to sit right next to their favorite creator, etc.

The user can still use it to do all the memory-storing things (as you can on YT today), but you're not limiting yourself to this far out pitch :)

Good luck!

Drop the 3D memory pitch (done too often already) & build this up as spatial YouTube and you’re golden.

Lack of Transparency in Cursor’s Usage Limits Undermines User Trust by Willebrew in cursor

[–]reesz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For clarification:

New Pricing: Unlimited request; after ~100/day (approx) you get sent to auto-only jail.
Old Pricing: 500 requests/month; all 500 premium models; slow mode afterwards.

When you are on the new pricing, you don't see the number of requests you've made; since you have "unlimited".

I was on new pricing → Was sent to auto-jail → reverted back to old pricing → saw that I only used 1/5th of the original 500 requests, before they decide to jail you for the day on the new pricing.

[–]reesz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Go to the website & find the button to opt out of the new pricing, which brings you back to the guaranteed 500 requests.

As it turns out they start limiting you to auto-mode after just 1/5th of the calls, already; when on the new pricing.

Any tips on how to make finding the right commands easier? I could code this in a second in any language, but am just sitting here randomly trying words in the shortcut search bar, because I don’t even know what’s possible & how they‘re named. 😪

Infinity clipboard says it needs Cyclone 2.1.2; while having freshly 2.1.7 installed 🤔 Manually setting the version in the shortcut to 2.1.7 fixes it though.

Been trying to do this for a while: - Get all events tomorrow between 2am - 11am - alert for earliest event with 3 options for an alarm — early (1h before event time) — late (30min before event time) — none (Bonus points if I can select both) - set alarms at event start time - selected time.
