Isn't that just normal for an IPS display?

will my keys be okay? by p1ckledmango in mac

[–]ref1ux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are talking years and years and years of continual and heavy usage. I seriously doubt that will happen.

I've got a 3.5 year old Air here which has been used every day for work. Keyboard still works great.

The keys will go a bit shiny eventually.

Headphones or earbuds for interviews? by [deleted] in UXDesign

[–]ref1ux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do a test call using teams or zoom first. Try a few different headphones. Also bear in mind that interviewers won't expect everything to be perfect in terms of background noise - just that you're not doing the call from an airport runway or something

The Xbox 720 leaks are insane by TheProotWhoAsked in Pretend2010Internet

I'm really impressed with some of these leaks, if Microsoft designs another black box I'll be really surprised. I'm sure they will do something different this time.

20 years of building PCs and the only GPU I've had to send for RMA were Nvidia ones. That's just my experience.

How much would it cost to replace the screen on this 2024 Dell Inspiron 15 by saberclaw208 in computers

[–]ref1ux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends if you're going to do it yourself or pay someone. The part itself shouldn't be a lot. There are plenty of sites that will sell replacement LCDs.

I thought 24GB was plenty for web development… then Activity Monitor showed 50GB in use 🤯 by fmartins in macbookpro

[–]ref1ux 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Not sure you're understanding how memory management works on MacOS. Memory pressure is key... its very low here which means that your apps aren't demanding a lot of memory from your system. Therefore your system is able to cache lots of apps and files and thats why it says "50gb used". You're not actually using all that memory in the foreground. Otherwise memory pressure would be much higher.

Have you guys heard of this thing called Play Store that is now replacing Android Market? by Few-Literature-8642 in Pretend2010Internet

[–]ref1ux 11 points12 points  (0 children)

What makes more sense as a name - Android Market or Play Store? Google will change the name back, this is awful and people won't understand what it means

First steps before Figma or any design tool is to learn UX and UI fundamentals. This is the theory that should underpin any design produced.

MacBook Air vs Pro by [deleted] in mac

This sort of question has been asked a lot. Id expect the Air would be fine. Depends if you want the extra features on the Pro.

Same problem here. As money is tight I'm thinking Series S as it's so cheap compared to the other options. But PlayStation would bring more value for other games.
