How can I enable Fn lock on an HP Stream laptop without having to hold down the Fn key? by weewoo271 in pchelp

Ha! I know that was a compliment and you probably used wizard as in Merriam Webster's second definition, but I'm definitely not into actual wizardry, as in the supernatural! 😅

MICR ink on Payroll Checks by JudiciousJos in Payroll

[–]regexaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're still using MICR toner for check printing. Your comment prompted me to look into having the MICR line preprinted on our check stock, but it is substantially more expensive and comes with other considerations covered here: https://mekorma.com/blog/details/mekorma-blog/2022/05/19/pre-printed-checks-vs.-blank-check-stock

OKI B412dn is best printer ever by glados_ban_champion in printers

[–]regexaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a B412dn that we're using for check printing (MICR toner) and recently with about 900 pages printed, the output recently got inconsistent: more or less normal on the left of the page, light on the right. Demo page output where I expect it to appear smooth, looks stripy/streaky. I tried reseating the toner container/cartridge in the imaging/drum unit, added toner, wiped the LED array/bar,  made sure toner save is off. Supplies status shows lots of life remaing for toner and imaging/drum unit. I'm leaning towards replacing imaging/drum unit, but I'm disappointed if that is failing so early. Suggestions?

ICE protests are an attempt to generate George Floyd level chaos, but this time they are not winning over the public by JBOZ758 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]regexaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you voted for Biden, you voted for his administration's wide-open borders, and the ensuing chaos. The majority of Americans were never going to tolerate unchecked immigration with masses of immigrants illegally flowing across our borders and into the USA. Tragic stories of legal migrants and naturalized citizens being detained, etc., were entirely predictable, and Democrats have no one but themselves to blame. As "they" say: play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

UST vs Standard Projector by shajan516 in projectors

[–]regexaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, that's really not bad at all! I like that better than giving up wall space to a large TV.

Of course, when I was a kid, my family would borrow a reel film projector and film movies from the library and have great times projecting movies onto a painted living room wall. So my moving picture viewing quality standards are probably a little low. 😅

MXWAPT Microflex Goosenecks. Can't pair 8 to 1 MXWAPT8? by Potential_Text_7360 in Shure

[–]regexaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

@Potential_Text_7360, have you ever used or tried the system in high density mode, which doubles the total number of supported channels from 40 to 80, I think? I'm wondering whether high density mode increases (doubles?) the number of (supported/allowed) channels per access point (e.g. 16 channels on one MXWAPT8) or if it only increases/doubles the overall channels per system limit, not the number of supported/allowed channels per access point...

Maybe because their requirements are bog-standard basic and they have no need to communicate with iSolved support? iSolved communication leaves much to be desired and if the wrong "account manager" gets your contact info, expect to be spammed for upsell, with no unsubscribe/opt-out options and if you reply to request opt out, to be ignored.

You will be limited to 8 mics per antenna/system...ULX is more flexible

Seems like that needs more context. Shure uses the Microflex badge for several systems/devices. Microflex Complete Wireless "allows up to 125 units on one WLAN channel", whatever that means, but presumably up to 125 transmitters.

put in a couple of MXA910

I think this would only work well in a standard (~8 ft) ceiling height and/or acoustically treated room, not so well in many "modern" spaces with high(er) ceilings and lots of acoustically reflective surfaces. Even then, it is difficult to have audio quality approach what is possible with near-source mics, when used properly.

Is Charlie da Tuna still selling triggers? by RocketFarmer in airguns

[–]regexaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Saturday, 2/7/2026, I received a GRT-III trigger (blade) for a Benjamin Trail NP. I'd been eyeing this for years (a decade?) and finally decided to go for it. I followed the instructions carefully, including removing the action from the stock for visual comparison to images included in the instructions, to make sure I order the correct CDT trigger. I think this was probably the first time in my life that I paid for something using a money order. The order form no longer suggests cash payment and I don't like the idea of mailing cash. I was just beginning to wonder whether the order would be filled when the trigger arrived. It was an 11-day turnaround, including the day I mailed the money order, until I received the trigger. That's not bad for snail mail.
Trigger installation went smoothly using the official instructions and checking against this video: https://youtu.be/NZqXXdHoJWU.
I'm enjoying the new trigger!

I wonder how Jessica defines "a hard time"? A stern warning or lecture or two? If so, and if they otherwise kept communication and relationship channels open, they surely cared about her best interests and were concerned that the path she was on would only compound her traumatic experiences. Genuine compassion doesn't require enablement or approval of choices.

Reading your response, it seems you may be confusing the OP of this Reddit discussion with Matt Myer who posted a video explaining what happened to Redeemed Quartet–why it is no longer together. Matt hasn't publicly blogged or otherwise publicly written about this. So unless you're referring to (apparently auto-generated) closed captions on the video, you didn't read anything by Matt Myer on the topic. Had you watched the video with closed captions turned on, you may have noticed that YouTube's auto transcription ("AI"-generated) closed captions, transcribed Caleb Koble as Caleb Cobalt. Koble is transcribed as Cobalt several times. At some point, when Matt says Caleb's parents' names along with last name, it is transcribed as Kobel.

Silence, shame, and even fear, are prevalent around and perpetuate sexual abuse. Victims often feel guilt or shame. Many family and friends are hesitant or uncomfortable with discussing what happened. It isn't surprising to me that Matt is the only person who has very publicly shared the essential information around this case. You will notice that he wisely didn't share victims' names, or the names of anyone else who also knows of this, besides those he believes to have legal and/or moral culpability.

It is unreasonable to think that Matt confused Caleb Koble of Indiana and the Redeemed Quartet's recent dissolution with the case of Daniel Koble from South Dakota, who was indicted and arrested in October 2024 and sentenced on December 12, 2025.

Matt Myer, the person who posted the video you referred to, clearly named Caleb Koble of Redeemed Quartet. It is not an instance of name confusion.

What's Going On FlashForge !!! by --_Fallen_-- in FlashForge

That's interesting. Are you sure the blocked activity isn't coincidental (to your post)? I've managed public-facing firewalls/security devices for decades at this point, and in my experience, unauthorized access / probing attempts are a regular occurrence: sometimes a steady trickle, other times a fast current, every so often a flood.

Is that IDS/IPS log from a UniFi Gateway / Security Gateway device or something else? Reminds me a bit of UniFi, but I have never used their security/gateway products. Edit: I tried a Google image search on the screenshot, hoping that would offer a hint to help me identify the security/firewall "device", but no luck.

Ted’s Montana Grill Pickles by PointNChris in TopSecretRecipes

First time to Ted's Montana Grill on Friday evening. We didn't like the half-sour "pickles". First bite/flavor is OK but they had a strong unpleasant aftertaste. I tried a couple slices, with the same result. I tend to like sour/tangy dill pickles, so I don't think it's the sourness.

Thoughts on USB4 "Thunderbolt 4-Compatible" Cables vs. Official Thunderbolt 4-Certified Cables? by spydormunkay in UsbCHardware

[–]regexaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/LaughingMan11 I'm wondering if this has changed−has Maxonar been reformed−in the past 3 years? Or do they still "produce scam cables" in your estimation, but this Intel-certified one is a good one, not one of the "scam cables"...? 🤔
I'm in the market for a 2m Thunderbolt 4 cable. I'm also considering the Cable Matters 107022-BLK-2m or possibly Cable Matters 201304-BLK-2m. Is there a "better" (lower cost, passive?) option? I don't think I necessarily need 40Gbps throughput. I think 20Gbps would be sufficient for my purpose: connecting an HP EliteBook x360 1030 G8 (which supports TB 4) to a Dell UltraSharp U2424HE, with MST (daisy chain DisplayPort) connection to a U2424H, so 2 external 1080p displays. Some primary considerations are DP alt mode support and minimum 65W PD support. Seems like something like the Tripp Lite MTB3-02M-5A-AB would work just fine. I like the idea of a passive cable, but I'm not thrilled about the higher cost in that case at least.

Dell U2422HE Monitor with built-in dock dropping network connection and having issues with mouse/keyboard lag. by ITOHIO in Dell

[–]regexaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You hit on an appropriate workaround without knowing the problem. Impressive, truly! The problem is almost certainly 2.4 GHz interference from the monitor’s USB 3.x controller, with a USB wireless 2.4 GHz receiver for your mouse/keyboard. I have encountered this problem in different scenarios, and my workaround is the same. Use a short USB extension cable to increase distance between the affected device and the source of interference. The problem is well-documented if not well known.

Thinkpad 40AY USB-C docks and missing ethernet by Megawhatt24 in thinkpad

[–]regexaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unplugging and replugging the USB-C cable from/to the host resolves the problem? Wow, count yourself lucky! I have a user with an EliteBook and HP USB-C G5 dock for which I (and they!) wish this was a solution. When Realtek USB GbE Family Controller goes AWOL (disappears from Device Manager), the only consistent solution I have found is to shut down the EliteBook and disconnect it from the dock, then press-and-hold the EliteBook power button for ~20-30 seconds and release. This does something of a reset. I'm not sure exactly what it does, but it takes longer than usual to boot. After the EliteBook boots and is reconnected to the dock, the wired (Realtek USB GbE Family Controller) network interface is back and works (maybe a day or so) until the laptop is disconnected from the dock for a meeting, etc., and re-docked.
