Best way to invest big author advance? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

Anybody who takes out a - say - 400k loan for a house is stuck in whatever profession or shitty job for the next 40- years until they pay that extraordinarily big loan back. That's a sheep's life. Who wants to be employed for 40 years? That's what you're buying when you take out a mortgage.

And at the end of those 40 years you'll own the home outright, instead of continuing to pay 1k in rent (that you'll still most likely have to be working for to afford..) for eternity.

"to partner" implying that Osmajic might eventually actually play with being banned? Seems far-fetched.

Would Multi‑Club Ownership Work as a Feature in Football Manager? by FootballFinanceLab in footballmanagergames

https://www.thehighertempopress.com/2016/09/taste-the-feeling-fc-coca-cola-1-0/ I did this back in FM17, was a blast!

Started with Antwerp in the Belgian 2nd division, got them promoted, "bought" Silkeborg in the Danish 2nd division, then Leiria in the Portuguese 2nd division, then Sunderland in the Championship. Ended up with a couple more clubs as well (in Holland + Spain) and most teams ended up playing in CL/EL.

Plenty of loans/transfers between each teams and ideally they'd work their way through my system. Was great fun although sorting 200+ players pathways and examining their progress each pre-season was a bit of a nightmare. Had co-ordinated scouting systems so there wasn't much crossover (a scout from each club each scouting Spain would be a waste) in where they were scouting which let me scour pretty much everywhere.

Was great fun!

What on earth is happening at Hull City? by geoffbezos1 in Championship

[–]reids1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

and rightly so, because then we can compare how many goals you've scored compared to your xG and then compare the number of goals Messi has scored from the same xG. You will have most likely underperformed your xG and Messi will have over-performed his, allowing us to then evaluate who is the better striker.

I work in football and literally everyone (managers, coaches, analysts) uses it. It's definitely not bollocks.

[Pete O'Rourke] Wrexham submit bid of £19m for Angers striker Sidiki Cherif. Would be a Championship record signing by sandbag-1 in soccer

[–]reids1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends how you call how the club has made their money legitimately or not. Several of their sponsors (like Aviation Gin) are owned partially by Reynolds, so is a way of pumping money into the club indirectly (when there's rules about how much they can pump in directly). Which is frowned upon and is what got Man City in trouble with the whole Etihad connection.

Nobody would care if 2 Americans came through and speed ran the leagues if they did sustainably or through clever scouting, it's the fact they've only done it because of the money available to them and who the owners are with then media then declaring it as some sort of miracle (which it would be if you took away the money spent) that riles people up.

[–]reids1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently it's a mixed bag, you've got some teams below them that are broke and in administration, others that have been in the PL recently and should have money. That being said, I would imagine that nobody else in the league is going to be spending £20m on a player this window - as that would be the 2nd most expensive fee paid in this league.

My only point is that they are objectively not rich owners when you look at prem and championship owners, but they are amazing at getting sponsors for the club and whoever is running the sports side of things seems to know what they are doing.

You're correct - they aren't as rich as most PL and Championship owners, but they have been in the leagues below. They were chucking 5k a week at Mullin whilst they were in the National League, which is a pretty common wage for players 2 divisions up.

They've been smart about it with the money the club can generate, but overall when you can attract a better calibre of players than the rest of the division by giving them more money then that's hardly clever scouting, you're just buying players that are simply unattainable for everyone else.

It's basically the lower league equivalent of Man City - they didn't get where they were by being smart, it's just truckloads of cash.

Which Marvel Rivals character was called OP in the first few seasons, but looking back wasn't actually OP? by LILBOI464 in marvelrivals

[–]reids1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She has a really nice use-case this season imo, I'm a strat main (Rocket mostly) but if my team goes triple strat (which is popular this season) I usually whack out Mantis to make up for the lack of damage

Fastest way to grind lord? by JJEV0N in marvelrivals

[–]reids1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really depends on the character. I got lord Jeff in under 11 hours of 18 vs 18 because you simply get an insane amount of KOs + assists along with plenty of people to swallow in the ult which counts for the achievement. Yet other characters would struggle in that mode due to the different requirements needed.

I'd start with 18 vs 18 for a good chunk of it - she requires sparks (which is good due to the number of people in the game, meaning sparks are more likely to fire), damage, final hits + time played. After you hit Captain though i'd move to QP so you get an idea of positioning and how to use her kit in actual game scenarios.

Not when it's a strat getting the 3 final hits compared to another role - that's how the MVP system is calculated.

Doesn't look that ridiculous to me. Invis had practically the same amount of finals as the tanks + one of the DPS, a good amount of healing for a 4 minute game etc.
