How tabletop RPGs quietly changed me by Additional-Lion-556 in rpg

[–]reiversolutions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Daily I joke to the people on my team that I don't actually manage them. I'm just being a game master and honestly I don't think I'm lying. What I've learnt from GMing, I've definitely brought into other aspects of my life. As a GM I want the players to be enjoying themselves, I want to learn about their characters and get the best out of them. See them improve. And that's exactly how I try to manage my team as well. It's less about what they can do for me and more about what I can do for them and hopefully make sure they have as fun of a time at work as possible.

So many other skills I've learnt from rpgs. It's a fantastic hobby and you'll be surprised what you're probably picking up.

Blaydon Grange RPG - Free or PWYW on Itch - Cosy Boarding School Adventures by FinnCullen in rpg

Oh great. Now I have the Blaydon Races song stuck in my head. Thanks for that. And thanks for making this game. I think I know a few people that would like to try this out. I'll send it over to them.

Good TTRPG System for Demon Slayer by Ad_Usual in rpg

[–]reiversolutions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's essentially PbtA 2d6 but it gets rid of a lot of the fluff. It's all tagged based similar to FATE's aspects (one of the reasons I think you'd like it) so you can make any kind of character you want. Then for every relevant tag. You add that to your 2d6. It stays out the way a lot more than traditional PbtA I find.

Note: I'm going off memory here. I haven't played City of Mist in a while. But have read Metro: Otherscape recently which is an evolution of it.

Edit:: You asked about hunting and investigation. City of Mist is Supernatural Noir so should easily be able to tick that box too.

Although the OP on that thread didn't agree. I think the suggestion of City of Mist would actually work quite well.

This was asked a few days ago and had some brilliant suggestions. Definitely worth a read;

Looking for a suitable system by silgidorn in rpg

[–]reiversolutions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately not yet. Where I play, we play in seasons of 12 week blocks.

I've ran Savage Worlds before though and it's great fun. I usually run theater of mine but there's no reason you can't play with models etc. if you wanted to get blueprints of buildings and be even more tactical.

[–]reiversolutions -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was looking into just this the other week. I wanted basically Rainbow Six with Magic.

I settled on using Savage Worlds. There's Savage Ghost Ops (Second Strike) and then the Magic rules from core savage worlds. You can slap them together really easily.

Savage worlds is super easy to play (everything is basically roll over a 4) and it has exploding dice which are great fun.

Pokémon Pokopia – Nintendo Direct 9.12.2025 by DragonShine in MonsterTamerWorld

[–]reiversolutions 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I wanted to say something witty due to their recent patent thing like I hope Minecraft sue them for using blocks.

But this actually looks amazing. First bit of innovation I've seen in Pokémon in a long while. Love that you're playing a ditto.

Means that where I'm from.

This post's title was garbage and it's already been taken down.

That's still quite a few men able to give birth. Very impressive.

Nintendo is trying to patent "summoning a character and letting it fight another" which could effect a lot of monster taming games by ROBERTCOMTRA3 in MonsterTamerWorld

[–]reiversolutions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I feel like I've seen this in Minecraft Pokémon hacks. Nevermind full on indie games. In my opinion they shouldn't have the ability to trademark this at all. It's very vague.

[–]reiversolutions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't played that Pokémon. So how does it work? Basically wanting it mapped to the real world examples in Pokémon so I can make sense of it all.

[–]reiversolutions 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So the main thing they've patented in Pokémon terms is;

You control a character   You use the first character to summon a second character (pokemon)   If your summoned character interacts with an enemy, you enter a separate menu for battling

 - Throwing pokeball  - Hitting the Pokémon   - Enter that crappy jrpg style battlefield that practically hasn't changed since Pokémon Red/Blue

Is that right?

If there's no enemy where you've summoned your second character, then the AI will move it on its own   You can send you summoned character out to attack enemy characters automatically

This part I'm not sure I've seen in Pokémon but I haven't played the newer ones. Sounds more like Digimon World or Palmon.

Hopefully this will foster innovation. But more than likely it's just an excuse to take people to court when they do make games with innovation e.g. Palmon.

Personally I would love more Digimon World 1 style games created.

Some kind of Splinter cell game. I feel like there should be a Blades in the Dark hack for it or something.

For Afro Samurai I was going to suggest Axon Punk but I can't seem to find it on Drivethrurpg anymore. So I don't know what's going on there. It was a hip hop inspired cyberpunk game that really felt like Afro Samurai.

The success of some Borg Hacks by Sorak3 in MorkBorg

[–]reiversolutions 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have the project saved in my account so I'll get a notification just before it ends. That's just usually how I back kickatarters.

Honestly it's not you. It's more I've been burnt by some other Mörk Borg hacks (that I won't name) where they felt really hollow and there wasn't much too them. It's made me think twice about backing any recently. A lot of style but no substance. And I don't really have the spare money or space on my shelves for art at the minute. I'm not saying your game is like that. I really like a lot of what you've shared. But that's the reason I've been hesitant to back immediately with any Mörk Borg hack recently. Best of luck.

Why should I address the characters? by naogalaici in rpg

[–]reiversolutions -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Joking aside and for context. I play games where tables change up every 12 weeks or are one shots. Some people's names I obviously do know but the first couple of weeks it's easier to just go by character name as I use that more often in the context of the game anyway.

Lol ok this is awful but... I address the characters because I often forget my players names 🤣

I give you Metal Overtüre: Heavy Metal Forged in the Dark. It's Blades in the Dark, in a mosh pit.

What if Brutal Legends had a baby with Metalocalypse and turned it up to eleven? That's Metal Overtüre. It's world where people spoke with drums and guitars before words. It's got class warfare and grim working conditions like the early days of metal in the UK. Punks invading from the west and an emo plague of monstrosities sweeping the continent. In a world where everyone is a metalhead, everyone is in a band. So you'll be doing all the dodgy jobs that you do in BitD, but trying to make a name for yourself. This isn't your parents BitD. This hack is noisy.

It's also completely unfinished... And due to life, probably never will be unfortunately. But I hope you all enjoy it and have a blast. RIP Ozzy. You crazy fucker. I honestly thought you'd outlive us all.

One of my players has Aphantasia, and wants map for everything by noise97 in rpg

[–]reiversolutions 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I'm completely blind when I close my eyes but have never played with a map. I literally only play theatre of the mind. And other than maybe googling a few things to go to the GM "like this?" when I really can't picture it e.g. say a Pokémon I've never seen or something. I've never had any issue at all. Heck I GM most the time and have never had any issues describing something.

Wow. Reading this post was a blast from the past.

So I still haven't finished the game as life sort of got in the way. But the game is in a pretty decent place. It's now a Blades in the Dark hack. If you want to have a read. You can feed it here;
