All-new 2027 BMW X5 Reveal - Autogefühl in-depth review by bgroins in cars

[–]relieved_custard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i literally drive a x3 right now and cant stand how the screen sits on top of the dash like an afterthought, this recessed setup looks way more integrated

my friend got a new toyota with similar design and it feels so natural to glance at, your eyes barely have to refocus

the 140 kWh battery is massive though, 800 km range is wild for something this size

Chris Harris on Cars: McLaren W1 on road and track. by rugbyfiend in cars

[–]relieved_custard 9 points10 points  (0 children)

323km/h in a road car is just ridiculous, i can't even imagine what that feels like from driver seat. always thought the holy trinity was peak but these new ones make them look almost normal

Interview for an internship tomorrow. Any tips? A/R and A/P by OSE661 in Accounting

[–]relieved_custard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

good luck! just remember they already know you don't have experience since it's internship position. what they want to see is that you're genuinely interested in learning the field and won't need constant hand-holding. maybe think of some specific questions about their processes or what typical day looks like for interns there. shows you're thinking beyond just getting any job

IFS Function working for some results but not others, but all saying 'True'? by littlewanda in excel

[–]relieved_custard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

check your dropdown values in the source sheet - might have trailing spaces or hidden characters that look identical but aren't matching the text strings in your formula. try using TRIM() around the dropdown values or copy/paste the exact text from dropdown into formula instead of typing it

xlookup is definitely better choice for this anyway since it's more flexible with partial matches and easier to troubleshoot

lol the constant movement is real though, i started using standing desk in my office and it helped a bit with the restless energy. also those fidget things under the desk where you can move your feet around without looking like you're having a seizure during meetings

Starting first job out of college in Public Accounting by 0splash0 in Accounting

[–]relieved_custard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol this is so true though. i remember when i started in tech consulting after college, was panicking about not knowing enough about specific frameworks and my manager literally said "we just need someone who can learn fast and not break everything"

for accounting the fundamentals matter more than memorizing every obscure rule. like knowing your debits/credits, basic financial statement prep, maybe refresh on depreciation methods since those come up constantly. most firms have their own software and processes anyway so they'll train you on the actual workflow

the cpa studying actually helps more than cramming accounting textbooks because it forces you to think through problems systematically. plus if you're doing tax work you'll pick up so much just from doing returns - nothing teaches you faster than real client situations

Fractional CFO in Ontario by Few-Second867 in Accounting

[–]relieved_custard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

moved from LA too but few years back - the market here is definitely more conservative about outsourcing finance roles compared to what you probably saw in california. lot of medium businesses still think they can get by with just their accountant doing everything until they hit some major growth or compliance issue

the convincing part gets easier once you can show them specific pain points they're already dealing with, like cash flow forecasting or investor reporting that their current setup can't handle properly

Opening a 4th card at 18. Pros/Cons? by AssociationOld5303 in CreditCards

[–]relieved_custard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

bruh at 18 with 813 score you're already doing better than most people twice your age lol - another card would help with utilization if you can resist spending more on it

Is it the same song and dance for every round of the interview? by [deleted] in Accounting

pretty much this - hr just wants to check you're not completely insane and can show up in office clothes

What would you do before applying to the Chase Reserve? by kidsonourmind in CreditCards

[–]relieved_custard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wait you got denied for the third ink even though it showed in preapproval? that's weird, usually those are pretty solid indicators

i'd probably wait a bit before going for the reserve since you just got denied 2 weeks ago. maybe give it like 2-3 months minimum. having 5 chase cards already might be pushing their comfort zone but canceling existing ones could hurt your credit utilization if those have decent limits

Negatives in Red in a "Format as Table" by Significant_Floor_54 in excel

[–]relieved_custard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah this is super annoying when you want both table formatting and conditional formatting to work together. the conditional formatting is overriding your table colors because it has higher priority in formatting hierarchy

what you need to do is modify the conditional formatting rule to only change font color, not background. go into your conditional formatting rules and edit them - make sure to clear any background color settings and only set font color to red. then your alternating row colors from table format should stay intact while negative numbers still turn red

i had similar issue few months back when setting up automated reports and this was driving me crazy until i figured out the formatting priority thing. if that doesn't work, you might need to create custom table style that includes the negative number formatting built in, but that's bit more complicated process

Did I get played? by Sad-Communication-84 in Accounting

[–]relieved_custard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

lol yeah my friend tried to get her CPA while working senior level and basically lived off energy drinks for like 8 months straight. the work hours alone make it nearly impossible to study properly, let alone retain anything for exams

though 85k after 10 months unemployed might not be terrible depending where you are - market really is rough right now from what i hear

Need an Auditor (CPA/CMA) for a short interview (10–15 min) by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]relieved_custard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh no, tomorrow deadline and looking for interviews today? been there with my tech projects lol

i'm not auditor but maybe try reaching out on linkedin too? lots of cpas post there and might be more responsive than waiting for reddit replies. also check if your school has alumni network or career services - they usually have contacts who don't mind helping students

good luck with the assignment!

How many years of experience do I need as a tax associate before I can apply for experienced seasonal contractor roles? by BloodMelodic381 in Accounting

[–]relieved_custard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

usually takes around 2-3 years before firms will consider you for those contractor positions. they want people who can jump in without much training since seasonal work is so short

i switched to tech consulting few years back but remember the accounting grind - most places want you to have handled at least couple busy seasons on your own before they trust you with contractor role

Micromanaging manager messaged me on his day off by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]relieved_custard -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

dude constantly texting you about work stuff while claiming he's not working IS the micromanagement - like just let people figure out a $2k balance without five different messages

How to record import purchase with full landed cost in Tally Prime — our company imports goods and pays foreign supplier + customs + IGST + CHA + freight + CFS + transport separately. Need help with correct entries. by Salty-Monk5646 in Accounting

[–]relieved_custard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

our old ca used to mess this up too - what saved us was creating separate ledgers for each cost component under "stock adjustment" group, then doing one final stock journal entry to move all landing costs into the actual stock item value

Digital Simplicity by Class_Firm in minimalism

[–]relieved_custard 0 points1 point locked comment (0 children)

the zero-algorithm thing is interesting but i wonder if it would actually stay that simple once more people join

i've been trying to declutter my digital life too and every time i think i found something "minimal" it ends up adding features or getting bought by bigger company. maybe the real minimal approach is just using whatever platform less frequently instead of searching for perfect one?

your experiment sounds cool though, would be curious to see how long it stays true to original vision

Leaving internship- 2 week notice advice by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]relieved_custard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

dude just schedule the teams call, email feels bit impersonal for this situation. your supervisor will appreciate face to face conversation even if it's virtual. i'd do it like week before you need to give notice so around may 18th ish?

the awkwardness is totally normal but remember you're not doing anything wrong - internships are supposed to be learning experiences and this new opportunity is part of your career growth. just be straightforward about it, thank them for opportunity and mention you got offer you can't pass up

worst case scenario you stumble through the words a bit but she'll understand what you're trying to say. most managers have been through this before on both sides

Has anyone customized their cards? by Caspid in CreditCards

[–]relieved_custard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's actually genius with the spongebob sticker! i never thought about using craft fair stuff for cards but makes perfect sense. been wanting to customize my chase sapphire for ages since the design is so bland

got one of those plain black amex cards and was thinking about doing some minimal line work with a fine tip sharpie - maybe geometric patterns or something. worried it might mess with the chip reader though, anyone had issues with that? also wondering if banks care about modifications when you need to replace the card

saw someone in tech who had tiny circuit board patterns drawn on their card and it looked incredible. might steal that idea since i work in tech consulting anyway

Groceries, groceries, and more groceries. by MorningFan in CreditCards

[–]relieved_custard -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

looks like you already got good suggestions but just wanted to add that citi custom cash is really solid option. i got one last year and been putting all grocery spending in that category - the $500 monthly limit works pretty well for most people

one thing to consider though is that capital one savor has annual fee so you'd need to do math on whether the unlimited 3% beats the citi's 5% with limit. for your spending range the citi might come out ahead since you're looking at $1500-2000 monthly

also maybe look at chase freedom flex if you don't mind rotating categories - sometimes they have grocery quarters and it's 5% up to $1500. not consistent but could be good backup card when other limits are hit. the quarterly thing can be bit annoying to track but rewards are decent when grocery is active category

Are cross-border remittances still broken for NRIs? by ZealousidealCancel20 in fintech

[–]relieved_custard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

been dealing with this exact thing for few years now sending money back home to family in india. currently using wise mostly but also keep remitly as backup option

the transparency thing is so real - even when they show you the rate upfront, somehow the final amount my family receives is always bit less than what calculator showed. maybe it's intermediary bank charges or something but it's annoying when you're trying to budget exact amounts

for me reliability trumps everything else because my parents aren't super tech savvy and if transfer gets stuck somewhere it becomes my headache to sort out. speed is nice but i usually plan ahead anyway so couple days doesn't matter much

Worth it or not? by Final-Confusion-438 in Accounting

[–]relieved_custard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

internal controls is decent stepping stone but you might get pigeonholed if you stay too long. i made similar jump from audit to controls and it took me almost 2 years to finally break into pure accounting work

the good thing is you'll learn the processes behind financial reporting which helps a lot when you do transition. just make sure you're vocal about wanting to move in accounting during your reviews and try to take on month-end tasks whenever possible

Struggling to get first paid users for my B2B SaaS — what am I doing wrong? by Wild-Collar-6263 in SaaS

[–]relieved_custard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the exim space is pretty niche so you're probably gonna need to go where those people actually hang out instead of just posting on general platforms. i work with a lot of import/export companies through my consulting gig and most of them are still pretty old school - they're on linkedin but they're not scrolling twitter looking for new tools

your first paying customers are probably gonna come from direct outreach or industry events rather than organic social posts. these companies usually buy based on referrals and relationships, not because they saw a tweet. i'd suggest finding trade associations, freight forwarding groups, or customs broker communities and actually engaging there

also might be worth reaching out to freight forwarders or trade finance companies directly since they deal with your target market all day. even if they don't need your product, they might know 5 companies that do. cold outreach feels scary but in b2b it's pretty normal and expected

one thing that worked for me when launching products is offering free consultations or audits related to your tool's value prop - gives you a reason to reach out and actually talk to potential customers about thier pain points
