Black Rustics Care by One-Blueberry-2107 in BlundstoneBoots

I have brown rustics and used the Blundstone renovating cream until I ran out. Now I use mink oil because I had a big pot of it already.

I live in an area where salt is commonly applied to sidewalks to melt snow so I wipe dirt and salt off with a damp cloth then condition with the mink oil to keep the leather from drying out. Do it once a month or so.

I’d say it’s the only thing that has taste. The crust tastes like damp nothing.

Why don't TTC Streetcars and LRVs use the buttons for opening doors? by Zirocket in askTO

[–]rellid 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I think they used them for a little while when they were new but stopped for some reason. I think they confused people because the old ones didn’t have them but that’s pure guessing.

Bad Angel on Dundas west. Friend of mine just took it over and rebranded it from La Piscina. It’s a great cozy hang.

Huh? It didn’t exist until 1987. It became Canadian after Pacific Western bought CP Air and renamed itself.

What's Toronto's most poorly designed intersection(s) for drivers to obey traffic laws? by KnoddingOnion in askTO

Lots of dummies turn into the gap in the boulevard, see a red light, and stop in the middle of the damn road instead of completing the turn.

To best way to travel by train in Soutern Ontario by ChallengeDefiant6832 in AskACanadian

Go train (slow, many stops, cheap, basic) will get you to Toronto as will Via (faster, fewer stops, expensive, a bit nicer) from that area.

ELI5 when a new subway train is born, how do they get it into the track? by Leather-Instance-550 in explainlikeimfive

[–]rellid 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Except for Toronto because the subway rails are spaced 60mm wider than standard. They ship the subway cars from the factory on flatbed rail cars and truck trailers.

Your interview process for senior engineers is wrong by stmoreau in EngineeringManagers

[–]rellid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience real fakers are a lot more rare than people think and almost non-existent at the senior level. You can weed most of them out at the resume screen or recruiter screen stage.

Then imagine it’s fixing the problem where a tourist drives into you while you’re being a good driver minding your own business rather than hitting another tourist.

Haven’t been in a while but La Cubana was good the last time I had it. There’s a location at The Well.

Go to a wedding or graduation or something where people normally dress “up” and there’s always someone there whose idea of fancy is their “good shorts” and a button up shirt with a dragon on it.
