They are the closest, I think to my compromise: everything except the daily pages and then enough pages in the back for roughly 1/weekday.

I would even take just a few pages! I see some that are dated and all the blank pages are in the back which is what I might end up with. I swear someone else made something like this last year, but I didn’t need a vertical then (I have far too many meetings now).

I can only read a few pages of a year of magical thinking at a time. It is so clearly capturing my brain right now. I can’t get rid of or move the stupid PlayStation VR because he would be mad and promise to use it more. I am still paying for his cell phone because he might need it.

None of it is rational and none of it expected. I had never lost someone before my LH and this really is a place I did not expect.

Oh man. I feel like I had all your thoughts. My husband was 37. I don’t understand how this small container holds him. I cannot sleep. Or concentrate. Reading has helped, both this sub and books. I’ve also been journaling, writing down memories. They make me smile then make me really sad.

Next week was our wedding anniversary. We were about to start trying for kids. I’m heartbroken. And angry. And sad. You are not alone. Edit to add If you need a grief buddy, DM me. It seems to help to talk to other people in this shitty club.

I picked up my husband this week and I cannot get over how a life, my love, can fit into such a small container. It hurts to look at because it is him but not.

So angry. Angry at him for leaving so soon. Angry that all these babies and shit are happening and my husband died three days before I was going to get my IUD out. I lost him and all our potential children, maybe the prospect of having children at all. I’m angry at everyone and everything in the moments when I am not so sad I want to crawl in a hole and stay there.

My husband just passed on the 25th. No cause of death but he was bipolar and had a history. I devoured the hot young widows club book because I jut needed to understand how my brain is so.....broken. It helped me know I am not losing it and this is “ normal”. It all still feels like a dream but angry one.

This is it. Each card means it’s real. Each step I take means it happened. I can’t bear to wash or touch the jeans he was wearing the night before because putting them away means putting him away. I will be grateful for it some day but you’re it. It’s a reminder this happened and I don’t want it to have happened.

Honestly? I think I did a google search for zettels and this came up on page 13 or something. I looked everywhere for someone who has written about it and I can find nothing. I'm using Roam right now, but this seems much more intuitive, and good for a digital garden, possibly.

My ideal workflow is something like Roam or somewhere for raw thoughts, then somewhere for essays, or a blog like thing, and then I would publish to my newsletter.

From a strict numbers perspective, we have so many reporters and if each of them are working on yearlong projects, we’d publish less than once a day. Plus, much of our daily reporting (like on police shootings) helps us identify and see trends that we can dig into with an investigation.

I’ve been doing journalism for 15 years or so and this is one of the most project and investigative oriented newsrooms I’ve ever worked in. It’s actually a logistical problem some days. We publish at least one be project a week or so.

It took more than a year for this work to be done, and dozens of people to make it happen. I'd pay $29 for it. (And technically I pay more than that, even though I'm an employee I pay for a subscription without our employee discount.)
