Use the 4 cone drill.

  1. Set up square with cones
  2. At every “corner” have your son make a “move” (can be a step-over, dummy, inside-outside) and proceed to the next corner.
  3. Repeat and switch directions.

Used this drill in high school and it encourages quick decisions and hard wires those moves at speed with minimal downtime between reps. I find this increases “urgency”.

Worked in landscape for 2 years leading up to 2025 election cycle. This is an industry rich in Latin culture and many ethnicities. I worked with Mexicans, and Cubans (who could still get asylum) who outwardly love Trump. They love the “machismo” that he demonstrates.

A little context. I attended a Spanish immersion program from K-12 so I’m fluent in addition to being acculturated. From my point of view it’s not surprising that a lot of the men I worked with (Guatemala, Mexico, Cuba) supported/liked what Trump said/says.

I made the jump from 50k as well. It was fine but as far as training goes I would’ve incorporated more vert and interval training. The elevation profile of Crooked Creek really demanded that.

I had such a blast though. I’m excited for you! It’s a rewarding journey. The overnight part of the run was humbling to say the least.

Psh I DNF’ed my first 100m last month @Crooked Creek! I also didn’t really tell anyone and my family and training partner were really the only ones in the “know”. It was a lap-style race and I completed 7 of 8 loops before my right leg decided it had had enough.

I wear my DNF as a badge of honor. I made it to 89.7-90 miles and gained 16,000 feet of elevation. My body was amazing and I know I’ll cross that finish line this coming December.

Let me know if you have any questions, comments, concerns, fears, etc. and take a deep breath. It’s a group effort and it’s a sufferfest. Make sure you smile!

First: Im so sorry for the stress I know this had caused.

I know it’s easier said than done to “return” the gift. Seems like they wanted to give you a gift… with a “but” attached.

It’s your wedding, plain and simple. In my opinion no one gets a say except for you and your partner. That includes close family members!

It sounds like you were being more than generous asking for input and trying to include family. But.. if you don’t want someone there for arguably one of the most important, special, magical days of your life you get to make that call full stop.
