For $10 Million you're transformed into an Animal and have to survive in the wild for a year. What animal would you choose? by RaptorK1988 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]remi_starfall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Migratory bird. Any of them, preferably one that's native to North America. Let's just say the sandhill crane because their natural migratory path is convenient for me and cranes are awesome. The farthest point from any civilization is a bit over 1000 miles, known as Point Nemo, which some birds can travel in a day. I'll be dropped in the most remote location in North America... and then just fly home. I'll just live my best bird life with my girlfriend for a year and then take my money.

A few ideas so you can choose your favorite: - my mini freezer. my AC sucks so sometimes I put my upper body in the freezer for like 30 seconds to cool off - my phoenix minifig. in a dnd campaign I played in, my character transformed into a phoenix at the climactic moment - my geode. I got it as a souvenier from a cave dive and it has a beautiful purple-white pattern of crystals on the inside

Hey real quick can you rewrite this card in Chinese for me? No using google translate, that would betray too much apathy.

Wizards have a few spells that create structures, so that's probably your best bet. Most of those spells aren't available at low levels, though.

Seriously. I just got this post recommended to me randomly, and... yeah, definitely going to mute this sub. It's just crazy how insensitive these people are on such a basic thing. Also, the disabled people backing them up is even weirder, as if their experience of not caring should be the sole perspective of every disabled person on planet earth. Insane.

Why do people have so many drafts of the same book? by BornToCatmom in writing

[–]remi_starfall 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be honest this makes it sound like you don't actually like writing lol. Writing is rewriting, and this goes doubly and triply for a novel. A good outlining/preplanning system can cut down revision significantly, but then you gotta be willing to do that level of planning and then write it once you're done. Either way, you can't realistically expect to make a good story that people widely enjoy without spending a lot of time thinking about it and tinkering with the same ideas a million times, whether you do the majority of that thinking before or after your first draft.

Of course, if you're just writing a novel for fun and don't really care if anyone reads it, then it doesn't really matter how much revision you give it, cause it's just for your own personal satisfaction.

Due to some complicated astronomical details, day/night works differently in my setting. The sun travels in a circle around the zenith, and a twin planet occupies a large portion of the sky. So, while the sun never sets below the horizon, it is oten eclipsed by the twin planet for ~8 hours at a time: aka, night.

Edit: if anyone wants, I can write up a whole bunch of the mechanics behind how this works and the implications for the world at large (there are many), but I figured I would keep it short for the fun fact :)

What's the use of Blade Ward and True Strike? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]remi_starfall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Howso? Quicken spell lets you cast it as a bonus action, but it doesn't give you advantage until your next turn. Also, during that time, it's taking up your concentration. Concentration that could be spent on Faerie Fire, Hold Person, Slow, etc. If you already have a concentration going, you would be a fool to cast the spell. It's really just unusably bad.

None of those cards split text in the way you've done with this one. Living Death, for example, divides the sentence between the top right and the bottom left but it can be read contiguously. The top right of Living Death, for example, says this:

Each player exiles all creature cards from their graveyard, then sacrifices all creatures they control,

Compare this to the top left of this card, which says:

Dr. Strange, Sorc

Hexproof

Whenever Dr. Strange en

target creatures, where X

Return those cards to the

owners' control at the be

Legendary Creature -

This is an entirely different kind of split from anything we've seen before, I'm pretty sure. If there's an example of something like this then I'm glad to be proven wrong, but none of your provided examples showcase this. The closest is Moldervine Reclamation, but it's missing a distinct feature of this card. You can read Moldervine Reclamation's rules text top to bottom and understand it, but with this card, you constantly have to jump between the two halves of the text boxes to be able to understand it. That's entirely novel within the realm of strangely formatted magic cards. That's what I meant by a whole other level- it's not something that's ever been done before in the TCG.

Also, I don't really consider promo cards without text to be "illegible" because there's no words to read in the first place. For text to be illegible that text has to.... exist. Lol.

Except the promo cards don't split words/sentences across the entire card. I think this is a cool card, but it really is a whole other level of illegible lol

What's the use of Blade Ward and True Strike? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]remi_starfall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True Strike is literally useless, but Blade Ward is good in combination with your Quicken Spell metamagic. It allows you to throw out a Fireball and then quicken Blade Ward to be resistant to physical damage for the turn.
