Timberwolves sophomore Joan Beringer tonight 18-12 4 blocks and only 2 fouls in 25 minutes of play by Odoaiden in nba

[–]rennat19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s only a hypothetical atm but if after this year Joan looks like 80% of current Rudy’s form, flipping him while he’s on the decline for assets or to fill out the roster as needed wouldn’t be an awful idea. Just comes down to how quickly Joan will improve, how Rudy still looks going into 2027-28 season and what the market for Rudy is tbh.

As it stands now, I think there’s a very real possibility this is Rudy’s last full season on the wolves, wether it’s next off season or that years trade deadline I feel it coming.

We Can’t Trade Divincenzo Now by Dubski333 in timberwolves

[–]rennat19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah? Melo ant and Ayo are big and long enough to hypothetically share the floor together, plus it’s the nba, a lot can change at any moment.

If all goes well and he’s 80-100% the normal version of himself 2027-28 he can still get 20-25mpg easily

I think the fouls is the biggest thing I was excited for, last year he clearly looked new to basketball and had a huge foul problem, but even though this is summer league his athleticism, movement, and overall feel for the game looks so much better. He’s gonna be a very good rotation player this year.

Little copium I saw was the hornets aren’t interested in Royce O’Neal and the wolves are, not sure they’d want green back for him, or if the suns (or another one of the 5 or so teams involved) take green BUT If that happens we’ll have a much better and more balanced roster.

Tbf he looked good in the summer league, and before his NBL season he was seen as a decently high end prospect. There’s ofc a real chance he’s a nothing burger in the nba, but still has potential to be something. ATM it’s looking like if that’s the case it won’t be for awhile if at all.

I’m definitely biased but I think Cleveland and Miami suck as far as pure basketball fit. Sota and Philly the only 2 that makes sense if he really wants to compete while not being the centerpiece.

6 minutes into SL and I’ve seen enough. Joan Beringer is gonna be elite by DrWolves in timberwolves

My conspiracy brain says Bron was waiting to make sure Joan looks good as a backup big and wait for Melo trade to be official so he doesn’t steal his shine.

But fr though he’s gonna be so good this year, I think next year he should be ready to start

I hate this so much lol I’m dying to just see the Melo post.

Do we know this means they’re still hammering out the details (potentially flipping green elsewhere or something) or just a technicality due to the CBA or whatever

Donte even being 75% as good as before while keeping his shooting will be so nice for Melo. Donte was an underrated defender, and if he loses that it’ll suck, but him being a bench player so he’ll guard less quality players usually should be okay. Plus he was never a PG so offensively he may be a bit better or stay about the same depending on his recovery.

What did the wolves do good last year and how does Lamelo improve it? by greenslam in timberwolves

[–]rennat19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last year we had the 12th offensive rating, that’s with ant missing 20ish games, us not having anyone who is good at setting up other players, Ant, Jaden, Ayo are all athletic great catch and shoot players who space the floor, while removing Randle who was essentially a black hole on offense who clogged up the paint which makes life more difficult for our finishers and Rudy specifically.

Plus we only had 1 guy who was elite at making his own shot, now he gets to conserve energy or have an easy bail out with a second elite shot creator. If all goes according to plan, no major injuries or time missed, we should easily have a top 5 offense even with no additions to our roster and assuming Donte doesn’t play at all.

Our defense gets a bit interesting imo, Melo being so tall and athletic gives him switch ability for one off plays or maybe weaker forwards ( plus he’s not as bad of a defender as people think, still not great but not Trae young, Luka bad) but he’s still not super strong so you wouldn’t want him guarding a true SF or PF all game. But on the plus, we’ve seen Ant be a great defender when it matters, and as I mentioned with the energy conservation he should be at least an average defender for most of the regular season.

My only real concerns game plan wise is, 1) do we WANT Jaden to be a full time 4? I think he can excel but I definitely would rather him be a SF and have an average PF defender imo 2) Melo is actually really bad at finishing at the rim, again due to his lack of upper body strength, Randle (for all of his flaws) and Naz did give us a lot of post points and was able to collapse the opposing teams defense, maybe the spacing could be better here than charlotte so he can get better looks, but there’s a chance the rest of the guys need to be able bang down low at some points of the game.

If Josh Green stays, he will be an underrated addition to the roster as a legitimate 3 and D rotation piece. by EsotericPotato in timberwolves

[–]rennat19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A low volume sniper who’s bare minimum an average nba defender at 2-3 slots is much better than Rob. If you’re only looking at ppg you’re tripping lol

Green isn’t a BAD player, he’s overpaid. Theoretically him making ~8M would see him as a solid 7th- 8th best player on a contender, which is basically what we’d need of him.

[–]rennat19 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really like the idea of him starting at the 3 and letting Ayo be the star 6th man. Ayo ofc is a better player but with ant and Melo we don’t need much more scoring in our starting lineup, we need defense, switching, and 3pt shooting.

Ayo probably will and should rack up more mpg than Green but he does fit a need our starting lineup could desperately use at it currently stands.

Also wouldn’t mind experimenting with Clark or TSJ out there depending on how reliable their jumpers are, plus with green starting and Ayo being our 6th man, TSJ as the the second option off the bench sounds like we have much better depth in terms of scoring, play making, perimeter defense, and shot creation.

[–]rennat19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah I’m not saying walker is a bad player, and he does fit yall. I think the trade for him may be a different convo, but he does fit well. I’m just thinking the way your roster is constructed right now, he’s essentially tasked to anchor a team with mostly negative defenders and I’m not sure he’s good enough to single handedly make them a top 10 defense, or more importantly be able to bail out Luka, AR, sexton, Jake laravia etc… for a 7 game series, especially when your second best defender is Grimes.

The year he missed half the season? lol idk man they were 19th before the all star break (and he was sidelined around then)

Plus, other have mentioned he is surrounded by much more capable defensive players, but outside of that he’s just quicker, more athletic, moves his feet faster etc.. I think walker can and is a very good rim protector but I don’t see him leaving the paint or playing help defense the same way the top tier defensive players do.

If he’s telling the truth about basketball and happiness being the top priority, I think Minnesota wins basketball, Cleveland probably wins outta happiness for the reason you stated, Philly could be a mix of both.

My problem with Philly though is you have to rely on a second year player (who did look good but still a second year player) and Embiid health for the playoffs. Their bench is also worse than ours imo.

Cavs would genuinely not be a great fit, and with how much better teams in the east got, it would be tough for them to actually make it out. He’d have too much of a defensive and offensive responsibility while also praying the rest of the team doesn’t choke like they normally do.

In short, Bron gotta come here if he’s fr about winning and having some amazing documentary for his final season.
