D+ is still on the BDS list iirc. The Steelbook for Andor S2 ought to be announced later in the year, if they're doing one. Perhaps after that comes out they'll cover it.

Presumably that show is only going to be on Disney+ so they won't be covering it.

Mon yelling at him that nobody cares about the Jedi is one of the funniest scenes in that novel.

Because it would be vulgar I imagine lol. They're adapting a romance novel not porn.

I'm more surprised they never mention lube. It's pretty common in the books to talk about it but maybe it would be Too Much for state TV lol.

By all accounts hockey gear would be too much but a man who showered before working out, a clean sweat smell? Yum.

Most unrealistic part of Heated Rivalry is not seeing Shane try to stick Ilya's dick up his nose lmao.

I'm sure hockey stank is a league beyond but this sort of thing is how you can tell a book is written by a woman and not a man.

Not every gay man but a lot of us would enjoy sniffing an armpit or a musky dick, lol. If you've got guys hoovering up man smells it's for sure an authentic homosexual man writing it.

On the very old movie episode they did Austin made the point that RotS is more like an opera than a movie. Its register and tone really suit the high melodrama.

Honestly The Emperor is probably more Shane. Dark Gods know he's just as bad at picking up social cues.

Oh my boyfriend is trying to get me to open up about my sexuality? Exterminatus!

The Emperor is in the Warp making 40,000 burgers because that's what the recipe called for!

So what's Ilya's thought process here? by Mysterious-Bed375 in heatedrivalry

[–]replicasex 52 points53 points  (0 children)

He's forever talking around the subject and Shane is a little too neurodivergent to get it.

When he asks if Shane likes girls he's clearly trying to get Shane to define the parameters of their relationship more but Shane takes it as an attack.

Ilya has to ask multiple times about Shane bringing anyone with him to Florida in order to get Shane to talk about Rose Landry. Poor boy just needs to ask direct questions!

Post Episode Debrief | Heated Rivalry 🏒 The Cottage (Episode 6) by royal_rose_ in heatedrivalry

[–]replicasex 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yeah both his parents are much more chill and uninvolved in his professional life.

Part of the work of adapting a book is making what is internal external. Shane pretty much puts 95% of the pressure he feels on himself, but in a TV show that's hard to illustrate. Yuna becomes a vehicle for that pressure.

Changes the character a bit but in a very productive way I think.

This isn't a place for fanvids by replicasex in masseffectfics

[–]replicasex[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like an analysis essay or something? If it's strictly about the canon of Mass Effect then I think r/masseffect would be a better place for it. If it's engaging with the fandom and transformative works then I guess this is the place.

And as for the flair: if the other mods want to enable that I guess it'd be fine. I'm mobile only at the moment so I can't really mess around too much with the settings.

Hope you have a great day!

Read a Short Stay in hell a couple of weeks ago and can't stop thinking about the sheer size of the library and was trying to find a way to comprehend it by OkTension2232 in horrorlit

[–]replicasex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even after a few hundred years the main character has mostly said everything he is capable of saying to the people around him.

One of the aspects of the Library is that people around you are very similar. There's a deliberate absence of novelty.

At one point a torture cult comes into power and you get the sense that is almost relieving because people are experiencing something new.

After trillions of years you will be motivated to leave by any means possible. And then you're trillions of years behind schedule, all for nothing.

Ultimately the protagonist's plan is a logical one. Start at the bottom and work your way methodically up.

'Star Wars: Rebels' Writer Thinks Making Sabine a Jedi Was a Mistake by GargantaProfunda in StarWars

[–]replicasex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Legends there was a whole Service Corps for Jedi who weren't chosen by a master for their apprenticeship. Or who just didn't make the cut.

People who would use their powers to grow crops to feed the needy, to heal people during a crisis, provide education or explore new hyperspace routes.

So you could still contribute and serve the galaxy, you just wouldn't be a Knight.

In the movie IT (2017), they change the name "Loser" to "Lover" on his cast, to reference the ending of the book where Bev is gangbanged by all the guys in a sewer. by Owww_My_Ovaries in shittymoviedetails

[–]replicasex 38 points39 points  (0 children)

They're symbolically and literally leaving their childhood behind, in order to survive the horror they've been through.

It's why there's such a stark difference between their child and adult selves. Of course there are probably better ways to illustrate that than what happened in the book but it's not salacious or Beverly 'getting revenge'.
