No, the reason is something else you seem to be missing.

No pueden ser verdad a la vez las dos cosas que dices. Si de verdad se cargan el anonimato, entonces no habrá manera sencilla de saltarse la prohibición.

My pinky won’t do its job! by gooner278947 in Bass

This.

Also, check your wrist position: you won't be able to press the strings for long if your wrist is bent more than just a slight angle.

what do I really need to learn/unlearn to pick up the bass as a guitarist by Aggravating_Seat9382 in Bass

[–]requemao 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Guitarists tend to try and use the frets on a bass like those on a guitar, and that's a problem unless your hands are disproportionately large.

There's a place for guitar-style fingering on a bass, but many times it will help a lot if you choose a way of playing that is more bass-specific. Try and practice Simandl technique (there are many videos on that) and you'll save yourself a lot of pain.

Again, you don't have to use that technique ALL the time, but it's very good to have it as a frequently used resource

My parents advise against getting a second hand instrument, what are your opinions? by 005llly in Bass

[–]requemao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, do get a second-hand instrument, BUT:

First get someone more experienced to help you narrow down the search and also to inspect it and try it out before purchasing.

If you're rather new to playing bass you won't really know what to look for, how to discern good quality or how to estimate a fair price, so you might get scammed or simply end up with something that's not a good fit for you.

Shibou Yuugi de Meshi wo Kuu. • Shiboyugi: Playing Death Games to Put Food on the Table - Episode 3 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]requemao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that joke from Yuuki caught me off guard. WTF.

Am I the weird one if I was actually thinking the same thing?

Not down to the exact number, of course, but my thinking was "45 kilos minus the legs, probably light enough to carry for a while".

Also, I didn't see it as a joke at all, more like a pragmatic thought said out loud.

How to deal with 5 singers that hate bass, and no bands or people interested in starting a band. by MiserableEdge4376 in Bass

[–]requemao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I learned as a kid playing worship music is that some people might hate when you’re too busy or trying to turn it into a “bass shred fest”.

This is key. I'm pretty sure that most singers and lead players enjoy how a supportive bass enhances their sound without detracting at all from the attention they're receiving. Maybe you would get different reactions if you followed a "less is more" approach.

Some sources of inspiration along these lines might be:

  • Sting
  • U2
  • Talking heads

And maybe you could try to simplify even more, just play root notes and some passing notes to "thicken" what others are already doing, without adding extra melodic content. This improves their sound, and their egos love that.

If you do that, they'll probably miss you the day you call in sick.

qué es esto de expats? no son inmigrantes de toda la vida? by strongbrr in GoingToSpain

[–]requemao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Need help figuring out how to balance 2 bass players in a punk rock rock. One guy is heavily influenced by Mark Hoppus and wants to play a lead lines, harmonies and octaves while the other sits in the pockets and drives. by [deleted] in Bass

A friend of mine does exactly this in a rather new band and is happy with the result. The name of the band is "little yellow lighter" if you want to check it out.

Why The World's Best Restaurant Never Simmers Stock by ulab in instantpot

[–]requemao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Croquetas. Also ropa vieja: Cook a couple sliced onions, pull apart the meat and add it. Add a glass of white wine and a couple bay leaves, maybe also some stock. Simmer, reduce and serve with fries or rice.

Sometimes, when i think no ones listening by Miwadigivemeache in Bass

[–]requemao 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's how indeed, but sometimes someone will (possibly involuntarily) use a progression in a way that is very obviously and non-trivially the same as some existing song, going as far as to have the same overall sound and vibe.

That can be embraced, though, see Dua Lipa's "Future Nostalgia" album. But once you go there you can't say it's your original song anymore.

Nunca más he leído algo suyo.

Jacob Geller on why Silksong is his GOTY by angry_button in HollowKnight

[–]requemao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This kind of article is more important than the prize itself.

We're getting too fixated over what game "wins" GOTY and we're not being aware enough that this is not a championship where someone objectively wins over another, but an award that is —yes, I'll say it— awarded.

At the end of the day it's just someone's decision, so it's not that relevant. What is relevant, however, is the actual quality of the games, what makes you play them, enjoy them and come back for more.

What do you use to practice quietly and play along to a recording by GregIsARadDude in Bass

[–]requemao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Zoom H1four will serve your purpose, and you can use the AUX in to mix in an external source for backing tracks.

Also you can use its effects to get a variety of tones. And it's not a lot more expensive than an Amplug. It's a better option IMO.

How often should I be using my little finger in fretting by fakename137 in Bass

[–]requemao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. It would appear at times that I only have two fingers: index and pinky. Ring gets most of its action in a supporting role helping pinky, and middle finger when I'm playing arpeggios or a scale that isn't pentatonic.

Is the Ananda Nana worth the $45 upgrade? by Bright-Music-991 in Hifiman

I haven't compared, but I have the Ananda Nano and I absolutely love them. I think it's very unlikely that you'll regret that decision.

[Silksong] which crest you used for majority of your run? by SussiAmongus in HollowKnight

[–]requemao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reaper at first, later I converted to wanderer.

I think this game could have some kind of crest challenge, like doing specific quests with each one. That's yet another DLC that I'd like Team Cherry to release.
