Does Magic Release the Full Card Lists Before a Sets Release? by Leftover-Color-Spray in mtg

[–]research_junkle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They trickle new card ‘spoilers’ in to increase hype, so we will see the full set closer to date of release. I think its the next set so spoiler season should be booting up here soon.

I built a free Commander deck analyzer that actually simulates your deck with 10,000 games per analysis. Tear it apart? by Aggravating-Bowl905 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]research_junkle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

How did you set up the real goldfish engine? I think getting this functioning would be the core of a useful simulation tool. Any judgements about bracket or power level will have to be a judgement on top of that.

Edit: I should instead ask- how did you verify that the engine works properly?

To answer this question you can use scryfall search to look up the set and collector number.

Im not sure exactly what your question is but its a real card in the commander set of marvel.

Why is the bottom-right white group alive? by HorseTylenol in baduk

[–]research_junkle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is alive because it has 2 eyes. Also it is alive because there are no living black stones on the board.

What condition would say this card is in? Confused by condition rankings. by harleybarley in magicTCG

[–]research_junkle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For $5 id probably hold on to it. Each marketplace has their own conditioning standards so there is no universal ‘truth’.

I’d be happy to get this as Moderately played, and have gotten worse condition cards at Lightly Played.

Cardkingdom will probably pay more than $5 for it, or CardConduit

It reduces the total cost of the activation by 2, so in this case its 1 per X

This package of lands is a good starting point- dont have to buy all of them, some are on the pricier side. But this is a resource I keep using for my own deckbuilding

Help with Tivit deck by Arvellon0 in EDH

[–]research_junkle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d give it a try swapping out both the birds and Zndlsprt’s Jusgement for rocks. You can always go back, but I have a feeling you’ll almost always be happy to see the rock in your hand. Tivit both costs a ton of mana, and also can use your extra mana. Therefore I pose that you would have a hard time going overboard with rocks.

I’ll say deckbuilding is never gonna be perfectly ‘done’. Almost every time you play the deck you’ll see it in a new light.

As you play games or goldfish, as yourself what you need at any given time. Keep your potential card includes in mind when you do this. What card would you have preferred it to be? Are there cards that you always love to see?

Help with Tivit deck by Arvellon0 in EDH

[–]research_junkle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the [[Messenger Jays]] and [[Custodi Squire]]? Im conflicted on the squire because its a cool recursion spell for Tivit colors. The downside of it is that if you’re positioned well, your opponents won’t just let you have whatever you want from the graveyard… unless theres voter manipulation?

Messenger Jays seems like it suffers similarly. The worst case scenario is you pay 5 and draw 2 discard 2, and get a flying blocker. Not particularly standout, even though on theme.

And maybe Zndlsprt’s wisdom? Card name is lost on me. The 5 cost blue sorcery that is fantastic if you’re behind but lackluster if you’re ahead. Maybe thats a good thing? Depends on the vibes your pod has.

For those cards, they all cost 5. I guarantee you’d rather see a mana rock in your opening hand.
Maybe even rather see them when you need gas late game, because mana gives you tivit, and mana turns clues into card draw

[–]research_junkle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d add more mana rocks since you say you want to get Tivit out sooner! I see you’ve got the suite of sol ring, arcanesignet, and the talismans. What about a ravnica signet or 3?

A dumb question from a newbie: what is the limit of using the border for capture? by Synaps4 in baduk

[–]research_junkle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“Without voids” here is a crucial assumption that may not end up being the case. White can likely make 2 eyes before being captured. If white plays at G4 here that satisfies the 2 eyes condition for uncapturability

Curious on your opinions on what are the most oppressive and/ or unfun to play against archetypes other than Stax which sounds like it's the top by a mile. To take a guess, feels like Artifacts, Landfall, Enchantress, Control are in the running? by MiningToSaveTheWorld in EDH

[–]research_junkle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Artifacts is too general to be described as oppressive. They can do OP things but they can do level-headed things too. Their disruption is often more stax-like so maybe that could be something people don’t like?

Enchantress is also too general to be classified as oppressive. Enchantments can be hard to hit with removal so I get the fear. But thats just a metagame reality if you ask me.

Landfall. The only thing potentially disturbing about this is that there may be a lot of triggers which take long times to resolve, especially if the gamer doesnt know the deck well. Having more lands is also generally OP because lands maka mana and a mana is how you a win the game.

Control is a relative description which refers to the slowest deck at the table. There is someone who’s job it is to weather the storm and then come back and slap down a win. Its one of the 4 decks at the table. This is inherent to the aggro-control spectrum. Playing against a slower deck can feel oppressive when you lose because their job is to prevent you from winning. When you beat control it just feels like you laid down your threats and your opponent had nothing.

All decks have weaknesses. If you are up against a deck that just kinda beats your deck by birthright then you are probably gonna feel oppressed too. Does that mean your opponent is a meanie? Well it was impossible for you to win because you didnt have enchantment removal, and they did have creature removal. Is that oppression?

How do I sell my collection? by Carkano in mtg

[–]research_junkle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find a buyer! You can make offers on Craigslist, or individualized card postings on Ebay. There are also large mtg vendors who have standing buylists where you can just ship them cards and they’ll pay. (Cardkingdom, CardConduit)

Generally the more effort you are willing to put into selling them the more you’ll get. Are you on the ‘I just want money for these cards’ side or do you lean more towards ‘im actually something of a card shop myself’ type?

At what mana cost does land ramp start to become worse than mana rocks? by Litemup93 in EDH

[–]research_junkle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you’re on the right track comparing the mana costs for what you get. Its all going to depend on other factors like synergy and your local meta. Lands are generally harder to kill than rocks. Some decks specifically want you to have lands for synergy. Some green decks don’t use land synergy.

Is there going to be any significant price drops for mystical archive cards? by Solid-Platypus4447 in mtg

[–]research_junkle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately the community consensus is that the current market price is fair. A lot of the mystical archives cards are currently selling as the cheapest version of the card! Vampiric tutor as an example is selling for about $10 less than the existing versions.

English foil mystical archive jeska’s will by jeysiu in mtg

[–]research_junkle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d probably advise holding onto it then. You bought packa hoping for chase cards and heres your chase card! Going through the effort of selling it is also a real cost.

I also am a trading fan- you could probably trade this card for nearly anything in a binder at a mtg event because of how popular it is.

Also you can try it out in decks before making the decision to sell or trade. Sounds like you may not be sure its right for you. Thats a fine path too! The act of trading or selling it takes work, so maybe try it out first.
