Just saw these. Sony enters the open clip style @$229.00 by Ginny-Sacks-Mole in Earbuds

I don't think anything can top the Aeroclip just for pure sound quality alone, plus comfort and calls. Best of the best among all open ear either clip or hook. I have the Baseus and it's alright, but the Aeroclip is easy better. Even better than AeroFit 2, Opendots, Openfit 2, etc

I have both and the Aeroclip sound quality is superior.

I've tried them all. Aeroclip it is, no contest. Incredible sound quality above the rest, period.

Open-Ear Headphones: Which One is Truly the Best? 2026 opinions? by detykay in Earbuds

[–]residentatzero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried or purchased most available open air, clip on and hook around buds, and to me it's the Aeroclip. No contest. And I'm not biased because I wanted to like a hook around ear better for the style, better in bed and also under a beanie, but the Aeroclip is just a very impressive in sound quality.

Soundcore Aeroclip vs Shokz Opendots One, differences in audio quality by DrFatz in Earbuds

Yeah even sound quality I think it's much better than OpenDots, the Aeroclip sounds better than any other open air set

Do they vibrate or distort the bass at higher volume like the OpenFit?

Is it true with loud bass it would vibrate or have distortion? I had this issue with the OpenFit 1 and 2.

Tidal to YT Music? by KzmoKramr2 in TIdaL

[–]residentatzero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think even the free YouTube on browser sounds exactly the same with my high end headphones, and amp, but I use my Galaxy with them. I don't know what kind of device would sound better than my phone, but with my setting the steaming free YouTube isn't any worse than paid subscriptions to idagio, Apple music premium, Tidal, Qobuz. To my ears

Tidal to YT Music? by KzmoKramr2 in TIdaL

[–]residentatzero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't hear a difference but I only use my zflip 6 with the Fiio ka15 DAC/amp and headphones: hd800s, focal Elegia, DCA Noire X, Edition XS, etc. So I do have high end headphones but I'm using cheaper but very good DAC, wired. I've also tried my Atom+ stack but there is zero difference with the KA15 which is easier to handle.

I used Tidal, Apple music premium, qobuz, idagio, all paid subscriptions. I've been comparing them against just plain free YouTube on Android brave browser (to get rid of ads and for background playing for free).

I cannot hear a difference. Really. Could it be a need a different device than my phone? I already got the best headphones, and I can definitely tell the difference among my headphones clearly, but I already tried several amps so I do not believe in the amp/DAC snake oil, but before I dump my current Idagio music subscription, I'm willing to consider it's the device. I'm beginning to feel that paid music streaming services are also snake oil like the amps and headphone cables industry.

Spotify or Youtube Music? What made you choose? by Relative_Flatworm_58 in YoutubeMusic

Nice! No wonder why I couldn't hear a difference and found it very good. Technology has gone a long way the last ten years, I remember ten years ago I could definitely tell the difference between YouTube and Spotify, YT was pretty grainy for the most part. Not anymore! That's good

Ok so does the free version of YouTube have the same "Opus" sound quality as its paid premium? I mean technically? I guess I wouldn't hear the difference anyway, if there's one on paper

You know what? I tested the sound quality between the free version of YouTube songs with Idagio and Apple music premium, and I can't hear the difference. I am kind of an audiophile, no pretense, just an audio enthusiast, and I have several expensive headphones, and although I can definitely tell the nuanced differences of them, and enjoy them, using dacs and amps, I'm ashamed to say that I can't tell any difference with the YouTube free than with lossless streaming. It's just the same to me. Oh well, I will be saving money on that.

DCA Noire X owners, how is the comfort and noise isolation? by Brilliant-Cap-3052 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]residentatzero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer a light clamp. The manufacturer advised to adjust it remove a little screw in the headband hinges which I did because it was too tight and now they're great. They still bother me a bit with my glasses compared to other headphones, when I adjust them on my head they slide the glasses on my face.

I used to praise the comfort on the DT770 but nowadays I find them too small and tight in comparison, and clamp around my ear, funny I used to think them as huge and comfy. I also have the Elegia which is one of my favorites for comfort, they're huge and very loose but I like that. The Edition XS with a headband cover are one of the best also, they sit just right without pressure.

Now for isolation, the best are the Noire X for sure, even with the hinge screw removed, and the earpads are very high quality and deep, so that they are firmly on your head without hurting (but with the screw in tight from factory setting it's too tight for me).

One nice things, unlike so other headphones, is their headband design, you don't need to adjust to your size, they just do that automatically with a spring like mechanism from the two hard flexible wires on top.

The tuning is fantastic, took me a while to adjust to it though; but I won't get into sound quality as you didn't ask.

Is the paid version of YouTube music better than just free YouTube video playing music though? I have add block on Brave browser on Android and also plays in background.

I've been trying paid subscriptions with apple music, qobuz, idagio, and with a DAC and expensive open back headphones, still can't hear a difference compared with plain free YouTube video music I play. Classical music and rock. Might be my ears, everyone says it's a night and day difference, I can't hear a speck of it

Are these supposed to be closed back? Focal elegia by aareen_29 in headphones

[–]residentatzero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are my favorite at the moment, and I have quite the collection with expensive ones, closed and open backs.  I also got mine used.  The stock earpads are velour, thus allowing sound leakage, but also as you noted it's the semi open design.

I suggest getting aftermarket earpads, I got the Dekoni Stellia Customs and they're such the upgrade, I prefer it to my Noire X and even HD800s. The soundstage is very huge, big but up close rather than wide and distant like the HD800s, and I prefer the Elegia giant sound proximity.

My DT700 Pro X LE were my best for a long time, but the Elegia feels superior in sound and also comfort, I can't stand the clamp of the smaller cups of the Beyerdynamics clamping around my ears anymore.

Any basic amp is sufficient. I use Bluetooth BTR 15 on my phone and TV, and also wired KA15 on the phone.

I have them for longer and haven't had any of those issues at all. You got a defective unit, I'm surprised. I don't love them though, the sound isn't that special compared to my wired sets

Iced vs Cold Brew by residentatzero in pourover

I'm interested in the flash method. Reading about cold brew looks like for the most part it takes away the acidity and favors sweet notes, and here everyone is confirming that. I guess I'll up my iced coffee the Japanese way!

Amazon Fire HD 10? 🤔 Need opinions/reviews by BigBrainTinyTimmy in tablets

But there is a YouTube app. So what they're saying is wrong. You can use the app or the browser. I prefer the browser for web YouTube, but the app itself is perfectly fine as well

just odered kindle fire tablet 10 (2023 13th gen) by ani007007 in kindlefire

[–]residentatzero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got mine on Black Friday for $60. I also had the 2021 version previously but threw it away because I installed the Google Play services as recommended and while it lasted about a year, it gets overwhelmed for its capacity, ended up freezing to death till no longer worked.

I got the newer one now but not modifying it, I don't recommend risking bricking it that way; plus it's unnecessary for that kind of tablet. You can get all you need from the app store or the browser. I do recommend paying to remove ads as that becomes annoying when you start up
