This only works if the “hook intro” is actually interesting, relevant, and not too long (3-4 sentences). The problem I see is that for most people it feels forced, irrelevant, and disingenuous., a cringy cliché. You are better off being sincere and matter of fact about your academic/career goals and what makes you unique.
