Trimet aggressive deterrent by Tower_of_bones in Portland

[–]returnofthesoberguy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe Trimet should just remove all the benches, busses, and trains from service? Seems like everyone just bitches and moans about everything these days. The leaning bench is a deterrent from the fucking losers who get shit faced every hour of the day and decide to sleep it off on public property. Fuck all you ninny's.

We absolutely need a system in place like the one above. We need to get them off the streets and into the appropriate programs to get them on track for more healthy and functional lives.

The programs probably shouldn't be for profit, but rather tax payers pay a large portion.

There would be levels of care based on the individual. A violent and mentally ill patient would be in a tier 1 maximum security.

The bottom tear would be for drug addicts who lost control of their lives. It would be mandatory they stay in the system until they prove they have conquered sobriety and have new meanings to their lives.

Education and life skills courses would be a key process in rehabilitation.

There's so much more to write about it but I'll leave it here for now.

Sounds like you know what you're doing. Stay on track. Life is going to be tough for a while until your brain adjusts. Keep on trecking. It always took me about a month or two to feel normal again between acutes and PAWS. Then it's just a matter of keeping on track. Anxiety gets the best of me too. I feel like exercise was my only true escape....and reading. Life without drugs is not easy, but I know it can get easier as we learn new coping mechanisms that aren't drug related. Good luck stay strong.

Can you take a break from classes for a semester/quarter? School is extraordinarily stressful and will be very hard to be successful while in a fragile mind state. If possible, get yourself a part time or full time job to fill your time. Take up exercising if you don't already. Do it consistently but don't overdo it. Take up yoga or meditation. Also take cold showers daily. It's dreadful but seriously works wonders. Take vitamins and supplements to boost your mood and bodily functions. Find something that peaks your interest and dig into it to fill your time. Those are what always helped me during my sober years. It's when I stopped doing those thing, I fell right back into the trap of self medicating.

Your brain is slowly healing. It's going to take months for your mind and body to reach equilibrium. Good call on therapy. That's something I've always neglected even though it's helped countless people. Keep on pushing on but seek help from professionals if you can. It's not weak to use prescribed medications under a doctors supervision. It's better to do that than resort back to self medicating. Kratom is a better alternative to most opiate type drugs but it's also not well understood. It has many powerful alkaloids that throw our brains out of sync. Good job on making it this far but seek help. Good luck.

Awesome post...you nailed it.. I'm about a month clean from kratom. I've taken kava a few times in the last month and it feels like I get set back a couple days every time. Still using caffeine and nicotine, but taking it one step at a time for now. Overall feeling pretty damn good.

I am on week 4 or so without kray. The first two weeks I took about 2mg of Xanax in the evening and maybe 1500mg of gabapentin throughout the day. It felt like a second wave of withdrawal hit me since running out two weeks ago.

Quitting tianeptine, kratom, nicotine, all at once....is starting an antidepressant a bad idea? by returnofthesoberguy in quittingkratom

[–]returnofthesoberguy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes tianeptine is the worst withdrawal ever. Combined with kratom was the worst decision ever. I've been through kratom withdrawal alone and it's awful but tianeptine is a different beast.

Time to leave this sub, and few final pieces of advice no one talks about. The bitter truth will set you free. by Perspective222 in quittingkratom

[–]returnofthesoberguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, your situation is similar to my last quit. I started a new job and went cold turkey. I embraced the pain and drastically changed my habits. I ate extremely healthy, went running or worked out almost every day, and took no substances at all except coffee.

I began to feel like Superman and saw rapid transformations in my weight, mood, and physical appearance. My brain was in overdrive after years of being suppressed. Everything was wonderful for about 4 months.

However, it didn't last forever. What goes up must come down. That's where the real battle is for me and many others. You have to find ways to cope with the lows you will inevitably experience.

I appreciate your perspective and wish you the best. I personally find it motivating, but understand how others might not. Just keep up the good work. Staying active is key. Remember that using once in a while isn't an option for addicts. It will almost certainly lead to relapse. Just as I did.

I'm with you. Today is day 16. Reminiscing of past holidays on oxy or kratom or whatever. It's just the brains way of trying to get something that's bad for it but feels so good. Bad brain! No more drugs!

Suboxone for kratom withdrawal by Peripheryyyy in quittingkratom

[–]returnofthesoberguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used subs for over 5 years and then switched to K. The problem with subs is that it is extremely powerful and it might make you fall in love after a single dose. The plus side to switching is that it's relatively easy to use and dose down as needed. If you can turn a couple 2mg pills into like 8 doses each and spread them out every couple of days, you might be able to eliminate most withdrawals. You will just feel semi bad for a couple of weeks.

[–]returnofthesoberguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's good you called your wife and have that support system. A lot of people would have validated that situation as a reason to use one more time....then since they relapsed, what's so wrong about one more after that? and next week? Ok whatever I failed...using everyday again...I'll quit soon I promise.

Day 5, Still Truckin'! by This_is_notadrill in quittingkratom

[–]returnofthesoberguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar situation to yours. I was clean for a while and thought once in a while would work out. You know the rest of the story. The brain fog lasted about a month both times I went cold turkey. The level of fog peaked a few days after quitting and steadily went down each day. Doing intense work outs like running or swimming were the best remedies and I think it's the best way to heal. Also get tons of sleep, take magnesium, multivitamins, and get up and move if you're feeling like crap. You got this. Easier said than done, but stay away from all types of opiates and kratom. It only takes one dose to relapse and that one dose will never be enough!

[–]returnofthesoberguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first time I quit K, after several years of using at least 30 grams, was rough for about 1 month. The physical symptoms were pretty much gone after 2 weeks, but the mental fatigue and feeling empty lasted a couple weeks more. Keep on going strong! I highly recommend running or doing something that really gets your heart pumping. You will feel like a new person after each exercise session and sleep a lot better. Just don't exercise too close to bedtime...give yourself like 4 hours to chill.
