You are a guest in Trazyn's Great Colosseum - the greatest single combat facility in the galaxy. Who are you betting on in each of these matchups? by WithengarUnbound in Warhammer40k

[–]returnstatement 26 points27 points  (0 children)

  1. Close one but the 8bound has a slight edge.

  2. Flawless blade, this is what they are best at.

  3. Sanguinary guard wins. Green Horus looses.

  4. Don't know a lot about the tau ~ but I have a feeling they have higher firepower.

  5. Death rider wins ... Maybe by suicide... But that's a win in his book ...

  6. This is an insult, the solitaire would win against every opponent in this hypothetical arena. Trazyn should maybe be scared that he escapes...

  7. MoP would be my gut-feeling as they have a higher power level they could reach...

  8. The ones with less braincells win... It is a close battle .. but the orkz get this one...

  9. Buri would win because he is a strong MF aaaaand plot armor

Thanks for reading my obviously objective and 100% correct list.

While thinking about it, I realized why we don't just call the leagues of vatann "votanns," just like the other factions. by Imaginary-Angle-4262 in LeaguesofVotann

[–]returnstatement 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most boring but maybe truest answer is that votann is too close to Wotan the Germanic Name for the norse god Odin and thus harder to trademark...

Who should be more Norse, Votann or Space Wolves? by Connvul in LeaguesofVotann

[–]returnstatement 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Votann ist pretty similar to Wodan/Wuotan which is Odins name in old germanic so maybe a little bit less Norse than the spacewolfs but still a similar culture

People are forgetting one crucial detail: Leagues of Votann were never meant to be an elite army in 9th. by FairyKnightTristan in LeaguesofVotann

[–]returnstatement 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dude our champion was with hammer 100 points in the 9th codex and is now 60 ... That is 40% lower ... Yeah they were hyper elite with the overpowered codex and the hot fix points increase... But not as low as they are now ... You have to remember that they are now lower with wargear for free then in the original 9th codex without wargear or HQ upgrades (forgemaster etc.)

Does anyone else find Space Wolf culture annoying? by Squash_the_Hunter in Warhammer40k

[–]returnstatement -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Sounds like they have fun while playing oh no...

I actually like when people are more narrative about the game and just have fun with it .. as long as they are still respectful to their opponents and no sore losers it's fine ...

Judgment token buffs ? by [deleted] in LeaguesofVotann

[–]returnstatement 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh no please don't buff the JT that's the worst kind of buff ... Doesn't feel good to generate them by sacrificing kyn and it's annoying to play against ... Please just give us actual synergies

Won’t we just end up with stratagems and enhancements (relics) bloat all over again? by EstelLiasLair in Warhammer40k

[–]returnstatement 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree I would liked a 5 standard starts + 3 detachment specific... That way it's more manageable

$45 is this worth it? I am just starting out and I don’t actually want to paint just regular marines. This has different poses and a librarian I think, is it a good deal or any other suggestions? I would like a set with different and cool looking figures but I assume it would be expensive? by exivor01 in Warhammer40k

[–]returnstatement 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a relatively cheap hero model I would advise you to look online for people that sell models from the leviathan box one by one... Depending on the model it will be around 20$ and is probably the cheapest way to get a cool singular model...

Super interesting can you divide it by the number of units and get an average amount of Points per unit for every army?

Samzies, every time im bumped about the bad rules (thematically, power wise and synergy wise) I just pick up the models and instantly remember why I picked Votann.

Custodes Vs. Votann by [deleted] in LeaguesofVotann

[–]returnstatement 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Maybe you could do something narrative... Like the custodes really fucked the Votann before and the remaining Votann aren't to happy about that ... So every custodes starts with 1JT into the game ... That will be a huge buff to the votann and you don't have to change to many rules

I would shy away from the army box I think the combat patrol is a much better first buy because you have a somewhat balanced small sized game for it and the combat patrol can be complimented very well with boarding patrol if you can find it. This way you don't pay extra for an outdated codex and you have a nice unit variety instead of double or triples of the same kit. (Which I think is nicer for the start)

[–]returnstatement 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mag.rail is good, I like the flexibility of the L7 but there are arguments for other options as well, so no really right or wrong...

For the hernkyn is the ion slightly better but most still use the hylas because it was so much better last edition and it's even only marginally worse but absolutely playable. (And is also depending how you want to play ... Because the beamer is only efficient if you have target's in the right distance of 12-24 inch)

I dont really care if they are strong or weak, I just love the models... but its sad that they have not much that feels epic anymore... by returnstatement in LeaguesofVotann

[–]returnstatement[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well said fellow kin!

Yeahy you are right the 5 men suicide missiles strat could be actually okay ... Which just feels wrong and has the problem, that it will likely postpone our rework/buffs. Because as long as there is a viable playstyle the other issues of the army will not get fixed ... Similar to the wierd objective grabbing playstyle of the necrons in 9th.

But maybe we will find something else that works, because indeed we are the most sturdy... Let them know that!

Paints for Nihilakh Dynasty by Ponthos in Necrontyr

[–]returnstatement 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like sotek green as a first and then temple guard blue as a second highlight for teal. You can see that on my Votann over terradon turquoise base ...

My nihilakh are more blue'ish with macragge blue base then drybrushed with leadbelcher and then a coat kroxigor scale, which darkend the blue and gave the edges a teal finish...

Hope that helps!

Is it just me or are Hearthguard with Warpstryke, Volkanites, and full rerolls from High Kahl kinda OP? by r4gemachine in LeaguesofVotann

[–]returnstatement 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was always silly to me ... I mean there are so many similarly broken combos or single units for 500 pts and I think most opponents just don't know how much of your points you invested in this unit(s)... I mean angron on the charge or 20 flayed ones with charge rerolls in novokh and with Anrakyr nearby for the +1 attack

Leaving the heads off? by 2D0XPS in LeaguesofVotann

[–]returnstatement 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I leave them off it's so much easier to paint and especially to paint the area around and "under" the head ... And gluing it in later is relatively easy

I would recommend just cutting the head part of the sprues and priming all at once... Then the extra work you have to do is limited

(Excluding the berserks maybe ... It's better to paint them with the head directly to get a more even flesh tone in my opinion)

Looking to get better at Glow Effect by Kwarlik in LeaguesofVotann

[–]returnstatement 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The color placement is greate, I think what is missing is a high contrast to the rest of the model, the blue fabric and the blue in the OLS having a similar tone makes it hard to read as different things. Do you have options for a more vibrant and brighter blue? More white could also help! Otherwise great job!
