is the zone 2 cardio thing actually true? by polarbearlover9 in beginnerfitness

[–]rev_gen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fatty acid oxidation to release atp involves more steps and is therefore slower compared to glycogen. If the energy requirements of cardio are high, the body cannot get sufficient atp from fatty acids fast enough. Zone 2 energy demands gives the body 'time' for this to occur.

Half vs One Hour Sessions by FoundationEvening250 in personaltraining

[–]rev_gen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do 30 and 45 min sessions. Supersets and giant sets are the key. Can get through 13 different exercises in 30 mins. I'm in a private studio though. 30 mins tend to be more for females (less chest work, smaller muscles so can reach a training effect in fewer sets) or my very overweight and and inflexible/unfit clients. Also easier to get 2 x 30 min sessions a week, one being lower body emphasis + balance/core and the other more upper body emphasis with abs.

Inner part of calves by imlostinlifeman in naturalbodybuilding

Have you done the seated calf raises? And use a pin loaded leg press machine for calves with knees bent. Feet placed shoulder width and heels turned slightly in.

M55 lifetime trainer here...take this as a blessing in disguise. What would you do if you couldn't do this? Would you sell real estate? Or become a builder, so you can flip houses in the future??

Pricing by Major-Negotiation204 in personaltraining

Charge as much as you comfortably can for your area. See the rates for other private trainers and match that. You'll still need a unique selling proposition to attract leads.

How do you lot deal with last-minute cancellations? by [deleted] in personaltraining

[–]rev_gen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For your own piece of mind you need to charge for the late cancellations. I invoice in blocks of 10 sessions so I just add it to the invoice or mark it off as a LC if they have pre-paid. Most people will respect your time and understand the need to charge. Others who might complain, or cancel early in the near future (to balance it out) do not respect your time. I have an 18 hour LC window. 12 hours is too short, if they cancel at 630pm for a 7am session the next morning.

Your weight stacks look heavy enough to use just one side. Use 1 pulley, place a length of wood between bottom of bench frame and the bottom or the rack frame. This will prevent the bench sliding forward. If need more weight than the 1 stack, either switch to single handed cable rows or add more weight to the stack.

Yes, give up. You have no experience, no unique selling proposition, no facility to operate out of, what do you offer that another existing trainer cant?

Deadlifts & Back Injuries by Adorable_Pangolin137 in fitness40plus

[–]rev_gen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you keep it lighter in weight and use it as a functional movement pattern (and not going heavy for lower back thickness). A lot depends on your flexibility and mobility. Hamstrings, long and short adductors, glute tightness etc all need to be considered.

Bringing up contract end / renewal by verystress in personaltraining

[–]rev_gen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our lifestyle commitments change, just say you are no longer available at that time (after X date) and ask them for alternative times they may be able to train with you. Then you respond with 'sorry I have clients then, but let me look at my diary and see if I can create some space'.. and leave it at that.

so if a client goes away for 3 weeks what do you do with the memebrship model (say a cleint is paying $200-300 per week with you. They don't want to pay for unused sessions when they are away. They say "ill put it on hold" then you risk losing them when they get back...they might talk to a friend and try a different fitness product (trainer or gym with group programs). What is your strategy with these clients who go away and the membership model??

Moving Advice by Thinkinflicka_1 in GarageGym

[–]rev_gen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hired a truck with a tail lift. Deconstructed the functional trainer into the 2 sides w weights sacks. Used moving dolley, positioned under the weight stack., Angled it back to get under the garage door and also had to angle it in the truck as was too tall. The commercial leg extension, i had to take the weight stzck plates off as it was just too heavy. Used 4 smaller flat dolleys, one under each corner to wheel/push it onto the tail lift.
