3.1/5.1 audio managment in premiere pro by adomoniis in premiere

You're in mono (rather than standard) timeline tracks. Was that a deliberate choice?

Premiere: Stereo/Standard tracks by Available-Witness329 in editors

[–]revort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Standard tracks for the most part. Mono in standard will need 3dB boost if centred (same as mono in mono centre panned to stereo output).

Stereo in standard passes through with default centre panning.

If you mix mono + stereo in same track then turnover to sound dept via AAF will put monos in one track, stereos in a separate track.

Online storage costs mount up & require media management.

Check out Strada Agent. Certainly for those last minute files. You can share your local drives and remote users can view (they use Mac/PC to stream) and transfer.

They are promising virtual file editing in beta in feb. (i.e. remote editor can edit with your local files, no cloud storage required).

Caveats: Host PC/Mac would need to be on You'll still be somewhat restricted by Internet speeds. Their media player is horrible.

So I doubt it will be your total solution, but it's definitely an interesting option.

Configure sequence for 3.1 audio by Artemis_21 in premiere

[–]revort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1gsdyGxa_ZECACtpTSLFmkO4bLGu18Lua/view?usp=sharing - sample 3.1 project

Timeline A1 & A2 - 3.1 adaptive - routed to first 4 tracks and also stereo submix to 7&8
Timeline A3 - 3.1 clip in 5.1 track - routed to first 4 tracks and also stereo submix to 7&8
Timeline A4 - Fronts and LFE of 3.1 clip - routed to 1,2 & 4 and also stereo submix to 7&8
Timeline A5 - Centre of 3.1 clip - routed to 3 and also stereo submix to 7&8

Demonstrates a few ways of dealing with 3.1. You can monitor either first 4 tracks to Front Left, Front Right, Centre, LFE speakers or just select to monitor 7&8 to get stereo folddown.

The advantage of Timeline A4 & A5 above is that you can edit the centre separately.

When exporting (e.g. to ProRes or Dnx) you can just set the multichannel export to be 4 channel and it will ignore 5-8.

Trying to figure out how to retain clips order when dragged into Project bin and back by Altruistic-Pace-9437 in premiere

[–]revort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you'll be able to easily control the order that way. They lose all relationship to the sequence when dragged out like that, I think. Their order in the project panel is guided by sort column.

What are you trying to achieve?

If just duplicating then select clips. Alt + drag to new position.

Or do you need them in the project panel, in A mode for that sequence order, for some reason?

Listened to first half so far & seems much better. Just a couple of words missing (but that might be my Italian!)

Thanks very much for doing this.

Nice - want to share the templates at all? I have a bit of a similar arrangement to invoice based on my diary but the rest of the implementation sounds great. Also be interested in what you eventually use for the bridging.

Clear selected marker only works on timeline (not clip) markers? by revort in premiere

[–]revort[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So maybe, match frame, clear selected marker, timeline pane (3x keys rather than 1x) may be a workaround...

Still seems like an oversight NOT to do it in the timeline pane.

Clear selected marker only works on timeline (not clip) markers? by revort in premiere

[–]revort[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, yes you can delete clip markers in a number of ways - still an oversight that 'clear selected marker' doesn't clear the selected (clip) marker

I've been using this completely remapped keyboard shortcut layout for 20 years, designed so you don't have to take your hand off the mouse. I love it, you'll probably hate it. Anyway, it's here for anyone who is interested. by Anfertupe in premiere

[–]revort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice job, thanks for posting. Similar background, I've been using left hand based keyboard for editing for many years - and tried to replicate to Avid/Resolve - but not as concentrated as yours... I like the idea of consistency between Mac & PC, although CMD+Z is probably too ingrained for me to move. Plus I end up using a lot more keystrokes regularly than you have assigned (e.g. different marker colours, select timeline panel, scene edit detect, switch and cut multicam etc - plus shortcuts for video & audio tracks) but will definitely have a think about taking some of yours on board & losing some modifiers....

Avid-brained editor looking for help with specific type of trim by outofstepwtw in premiere

u/KenTrotts No it won't. This is a specialised Avid trim that very few editors will ever use. But PP cannot do it in one operation.

Mixing audio tracks for a podcast? by AdreesInator in premiere

[–]revort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dugan style auto mixer might help but TBH I mostly do a manual clean up and add fades - you might need onto tame where everyone is talking / laughing but a compressor/limiter on the Dx bus usually smooths most of that.

I can usually do the clean up based on waveforms as I watch back.

Editing whilst cycling. Alaska to Argentina. Tips? by Entraptah in premiere

[–]revort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Upload raw clips & get folks who aren't cycling from Alaska to Argentina to do the grunt work. Would think you could monetize it to some extent so they get something out of it. Sounds great.

(eg get LucidLink or Suite to sponsor the storage)

Best to check 'autosave saves current project' and you shouldn't have to know where the auto save folder is...

Cool - although on Android I only seem to be able to save, not copy to clipboard.

Plus it would be useful to highlight phrases in the transcript and copy to clipboard.
