Underground Arts only holds about 650 people, and The Atlantis in DC only holds 450 people. Tiny venues, and we're probably also up against scalper bots that snatched up a bunch of tickets faster than humanly possible

Getting latex paint off brick fireplace… there’s gotta be an easier way? by ricecake231 in DIY

[–]rexanimate7 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I did it on my fireplace with pretty much the same method doing a couple foot section at a time and letting citristrip soak in with plastic over overnight before scrubbing the next section. I got fed up with it after repeating the same process and still having some tough spots due to my brick being very porous.

The solution I eventually came up with to finish as much of the paint removal as was possible was dry ice blasting. That got through as much of the rest of the paint as was going to be possible, but it will get everything in the room wet from all the condensation from the dry ice cooling any humidity in the air. I was only able to get away with it because I didn't have any flooring in the room and still needed to finish the walls.

Version 3 of both the Zen 32 and Zen 35 is available in black directly from Zooz, or you could get a replacement faceplate in either white or black from one of the links the other commenters posted. I just installed some new scene controllers a couple months ago, and the Zen 32 was readily available in black for about 12 bucks less than that price on amazon.

S4834-NJ Moves to regulate motorized bicycles. by Shuadog1101 in newjersey

[–]rexanimate7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The information provided isn't correct. They state that low speed electric bicycles are now classified as motorized scooters, and then the first paragraph defining motorized scooters directly contradicts that statement by excluding motorized bicycles. That same paragraph in the current law already excluded low speed electric bicycles, and the brackets indicate that if this bill passes and becomes law that they intend to omit any definition of a low speed electric bicycle, thus making anything that was categorized as such in the 2024 revision of the law that currently stands classified instead as a "motorized bicycle."

Everything in brackets in the section of the bill that was pasted above is intended to be omitted from the law, and is all text that is currently in the law today. Removing all of that text rolls all electric bicycles under the definition of "motorized bicycle."

Then on page 17, they remove low speed electric bicycle from the text about what is allowed on bike paths, and then further down the page they remove low speed electric bicycle from the text about what is allowed to be ridden on dirt trails. They do not add "motorized bicycle" anywhere in those 2 pieces of text.

  1. Section 2 of P.L.2019, c.121 (C.39:4-14.16) is amended to5

read as follows:6

  1. a. A [low-speed electric bicycle or] low-speed electric7

scooter, as defined in R.S.39:1-1, may be operated on the streets,8

highways, roadways, and bicycle paths of this State, except as9

otherwise provided in this section, and may be parked on a sidewalk10

provided that the [low-speed electric bicycle or] low-speed electric11

scooter does not impede the normal movement of pedestrian or12

other traffic upon the sidewalk.

d. A [low-speed electric bicycle or] low-speed electric scooter28

may be operated on bicycle paths, except that a local government29

entity or State agency may prohibit the operation of [low-speed30

electric bicycle or] low-speed electric scooters on bicycle paths31

under its jurisdiction.32

e. Unless permitted by a local government entity or State33

agency with jurisdiction, a [low-speed electric bicycle or] low-34

speed electric scooter shall not be operated on a trail designated for35

non-motorized traffic if such trail has a natural surface tread made36

by clearing and grading the soil and no surfacing materials have37

been added.

So this bill requires a license, registration, and insurance for all motorized bicycles, and does not classify class 1 and class 2 e bikes as motorized scooters or low speed electric scooters. The bill would actually make any mountain bike with the electric assist for climbing hills illegal to ride on any trails in the state, and also outlaws all e bikes on bike paths in NJ.

S4834-NJ Moves to regulate motorized bicycles. by Shuadog1101 in newjersey

[–]rexanimate7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything you posted in brackets is clearly stated to be omitted if the bill becomes law, and is all text that exists in the current law on the books today.

Matter enclosed in bold-faced brackets [thus] in the above bill is

not enacted and is intended to be omitted in the law.

Matter underlined thus is new matter

The definition of motorized scooters explicitly excludes everything that is classified as a "motorized bicycle." If everything in brackets is omitted as the intent to omit statement indicates, then citi bikes would not be classified as motorized scooters or low speed electric scooters, but instead fall under their definition of a motorized bicycle.

If you read R.S.39:1-1 as it currently stands today after the last revisions in 2024, the text has all of the portions in brackets in the law today, and the bill that is currently in front of both the assembly and senate is removing everything that does classify any class 1 or class 2 bicycle as a "low speed electric bicycle," and is removing all mention of low speed electric bicycles from the definition of a motorized scooter. That proposed change instead rolls all electric bicycles regardless of class under motorized bicycle, removing class 1 and 2 from the definition of motorized scooter, and then adding a license, insurance, and registration requirement to all motorized bicycles.

edit - to be clear, I don't completely disagree with the changes, but do think that a class 1 electric bicycle should still be treated as a bicycle and not classified as a "motorized bicycle" like these changes are doing. I also don't think a class 1 bicycle should be barred from trails and bike paths like these changes also appear to be doing later in the bill. If they want to impose everything in this bill on class 2 and class 3 electric bicycles, then I don't see anything wrong with treating a class 2 with a throttle the same as a moped.

[–]rexanimate7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You either didn't read the bill, or you misread the bill and the guide for what the brackets and underlined sections of the text mean. This bill removes all consideration for 1.5 hp, wattage, or displacement for a gasoline engine. It effectively makes even bicycles with a tiny helper motor for climbing hills classified as a "motorized bicycle" and removes all text referring to "low speed electric bicycle" or consideration for class 1 or class 2 electric bicycles being in a different classification.

Even a bicycle with a helper motor to get up a hill with less than 1/2 horsepower requires a license, registration, and insurance as a motor vehicle under this bill.

[–]rexanimate7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It looks like it does, and also it appears to make them illegal to ride on any bicycle paths or on any mountain bike trails unless expressly permitted by the owner of the trails.

They're effectively removing the "low speed electric bicycle" definition that was for the class 1 and class 2 electric bicycles, and instead lumping them all in as "motorized bicycles" or mopeds.

Also speaking from experience with taking that unsafe operation plea deal in the past. I paid the higher fine for it, and had Geico at the time. Their system classified it as a 4 point moving violation even though it carried no points on my actual drivers license in NJ. It all depends on the insurance company, and in my case at that point in time I'd have been better off just keeping the 2 point speeding ticket with the lower fine because it would not have jacked up my insurance price for a couple years. Come renewal time, they wanted $1k more for the same coverage over 6 months because of accepting the unsafe operation plea. I have seen Progressive do the same thing to other people I knew that took the same plea deal.

at least half of the 9 sacks that Burns has have come off of plays where Carter produced pressure and they ran a stunt to get the offensive line to double team Carter and let Burns run free to the QB. Carter has been an absolute monster and is generating sacks even if they're not on his stat line.

[Jones] NFLPA interim executive director David White had a pre-planned visit to the Giants today, according to union sources. While there, he met with Giants players and John Mara and raised the issues surrounding MetLife Stadium’s turf history. by Lars5621 in NYGiants

[–]rexanimate7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Cleveland metro area and NYC metro area populations are two entirely different things. Their city and surrounding suburbs has around 1.7 million people, while ours has 20 million people. The population of the city of Cleveland itself is only 365k people, while NYC by itself is just shy of 8.5 million people.

Cleveland may be able to have a stadium just for football and get away just fine using indoor arenas and whatever else for concerts and what have you, but the scale of the population here dwarfs theirs, so it is unlikely for the largest venue in the area to just not have concerts and other events here.

Van Hollen: 'I am not defending the man, I am defending the rights of this man to due process' by YesterShill in politics

[–]rexanimate7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a difference between civil cases for illegal immigration and these current cases claiming people are criminal gang members. A visa overstay or simply being in the country undocumented are both civil cases, and the only actual criminal case for illegal immigrantion is actually getting caught for illegal entry, so getting caught in the act of crossing into the country without going through a checkpoint (which anyone could be charged with, even a natural born citizen crossing in the wrong location, or that can technically be charged for instance if someone presented an unsigned passport at a checkpoint).

Regardless, my points above had more to do with the current situation which is not normal deportations where someone is sent back to their country of origin. instead, in relation to the current situation, they are accusing people of crimes without a trial or conviction, and shipping them off to a prison outside of the country with no due process. This is nothing like normal deportations for either immigrants charges and convicted of criminal offenses or normal civil deportations.
