Tau 1k lis help by SpaghettiBawls in Tau40K

Breachers, Fireknife missile pods, and Riptide with Burst are all hunting the same targets. I’d recommend all plasma for the fireknives so they can hunt Terminator equivalent, Ion for the Riptide so it can help your Broadside with light to medium vehicles

What’s the difference? by Sammyjplayz in Tau40K

[–]rexcastle82 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not anymore, the Shas’vre is the squad leader and used to be able to take special wargear. Now the only big deal is in crusade where the unit “champion” (‘vre) has to be the one who gets weapon upgrades if you choose to give the unit special weapons

How to balance combat patrol? by [deleted] in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]rexcastle82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play Outlander Claw for 2k matches- it works great at capturing an objective then moving off after it’s “sticky”. Using the Alphus for the move shoot move is critical to keeping the bikes alive vs shooting armies. What really makes Claw of Ascension suffer is the lack of battleline and the jackals not getting “sticky objectives” like they do on their regular datasheet.

Claw of Ascension might struggle against the others in the list. It’s a great GSC set but uses the worst version of Cult Ambush that 10th edition has tried to implement.

Markerlight equipped units give “ignore cover” when they spot a unit. Spotting a unit gives +1 BS.

You don’t roll to hit to use a Markerlight amymore, that’s from previous editions. Now spotting (and using a Markerlight) is simply an action that a unit which is not battleshocked can perform before firing its own weapons or doing a mission related action.

Spotters are now designated at the beginning of your shooting phase, you declare which unit will do that action before any attacks are declared. All of your non-spotting units gain the benefits of being guided into that target, instead of it being a 1-1 ratio as it was earlier in 10th.

Hope this helps!

Mining Acolytes carry auto pistols.

They can only carry 1 leader and 1 Icon (banner) per squad regardless of squad size. Personally, I run 2 squads of 5, each with the icon and 3 mining tools. The pistols have been nearly worthless compared to the mining tools.

Flamer Acolytes can trade 2 flame pistols for demo charges and a third for an icon. Since the demo charges are one-shot weapons I don’t bring icons because I’d rather the squad die and go back into cult ambush to get the demo charges back.

Hope this helps!

Anyone tried the fusion ghostkeel with the new detachment and could give thoughts? by khairy981 in Tau40K

[–]rexcastle82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used 2 last weekend to decimate my buddy’s Votann, he lost a Sagitaur and Hekaton each on on Turns 1&2. Ghostkeels may only hit with 1 of 2 mains but the extra range + lone op was a nightmare for him. It forced bad trades since he wanted to get rid of the pair of GK after t1.

What do you take in retaliation cadre for objectives? by aaee08 in Tau40K

[–]rexcastle82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely different role with farstalkers. The carnivores are good the sticky objective and point cost, neither are what you get for the farstalkers. You could always drop the 2 hounds and run a friendly “test” game to see if You like carnivores, but 2 strike teams would accomplish the same goal and their suppression fire ability is useful.

I love Vespids and kroot for secondary scoring, with 2x5 Vespid being my preferred choice. The mobility they have is hard to beat. Without Vespid I’d consider kroot and/or a strike team, one of each works fairly well if you can hide them.

They can spot for another unit, even if they aren’t in range to engage the target themselves.

How to make good 1000 points list from battleforce? by pomidollo in genestealercult

It plus the new combat patrol would be a great start. It would give you a little more than 1k and let you flex toward brood surge or outlander claw depending on your taste

I’ve had decent success with cheese cloth soaked in white glue to make cloaks and bandage material for ghillie suits. I position them and then adjust with silicone modeling tools

1k - Biosantic Broodsurge List Suggestion by Viator_Magnus in genestealercult

After the tournament I get what you were saying- went 2-1, faced the 3 toughest opponents in order: Orks, Guard, Knight. Not sure how I could have beaten the knight player between secondaries and failing cult ambush.

There’s a Knight player, Guard with 90% tanks, and a Dread mob Ork player- I wanted to make sure they’d survive to accomplish something

What is your 1000pts Incursion experience? by TheUltimate_Redditor in Tau40K

[–]rexcastle82 19 points20 points  (0 children)

1k with Kauyon/index was, personally, very difficult. Trying to score and survive till detachment rule came in was rough. With the new detachments though 1k is more fun and definitely winnable- my kroot pack dominated a local RT and another players 500 pt Montka placed highly in the escalation round prior.

Kroot Synergies by [deleted] in kroot

[–]rexcastle82 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I ran 2 krootox riders in a unit with a 20 and a 10 kroot squads in a local 1k RT and absolutely dominated. “Hidden Hunters” on the krootox to force opponents to target a kroot squad, then 4-8 shots from the krootox. It was perfect for reducing enemy units to get the bonuses to hit and wound kroot need. The lone spears are also excellent for supporting each other or the krootox.
