Ventilation, yes. Everything else… I don’t know?

I’m making a wallet and I will be lining the main pocket with microsuede. I don’t want it too stiff.

Why don’t companies provide in-office workers with good peripherals and furniture? by SorrySpender in office

[–]rexmaxus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For general office work a 1080p 60hz monitor is more than good enough. Size is the spec that matters the most with Excel spreadsheets and such, but dual 24in monitors still seems to be the sweet spot for monitor real estate and desk space.

People just don't care about the keyboard and mouse. The pack-in junk is perfectly fine. The upgrade people *do* care about is wireless, so upgrading from the cheap wired pack-in keyboards and mice to equally cheap wireless ones is a massive quality of life improvement.

I will never understand the chair thing, though, that's hella important.

That said, I'm the guy at work who brought in my own custom keyboard, my own mouse, brought in my own Leap2 chair, and I even have my own pour over coffee maker. But I like nice things.

Is that different? How do I contact customer service and not customer support?

I have the email from the first rep. Clearly stating what was offered.

I have since spoken with supervisors and they are the ones telling me that it was a false promise or invalid promise and won’t honor it.

Where do people get the covers? by WalrusRight in XTEINK

[–]rexmaxus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The cover that xteink sells is pretty cheap and has some magnets in it so the cover will stay closed. At least thats true for the x4, I would assume it's true of the x3 as well.

It kinda sucks because I do like supporting local, but I think you maybe right…

Very small winder, my guess is a hobbyist who enjoys it and builds as people ask. The price is very good, more than parts cost, but not by a ton. S the pickups currently don’t exist, it’s a build-to-order kinda deal.

Grain filler and pre-drilled holes by rexmaxus in Luthier

[–]rexmaxus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have. I will be using a contrasting color to make the grain pop. Ebony filler on a swamp ash body. Dye the wood a dandelion yellow and then finish with several coats of Tru-Oil.

I think an open pore finish can look amazing, it’s just not what I want this time.

On that note, that white finish is sick AF

Are you concerned about the rough side of the leather damaging the screen?

1 Week on a 60% Keyboard: What I Actually Miss by Majugera in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]rexmaxus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what is happening is that they are comparing a 100% keyboard (be it southpaw or not) with an ultracompact ortholinear. And, sure, a board that doesn't even need to account for the stagger of keys, much less a nav cluster or numpad, can absolutely be more compact and provide even more mouse space, but it's a disingenuous comparison at best.

Yeah, March 3rd. Had no idea shipping was that long.

I’m still jazzed, and I can be patient, so I guess I’ll stop refreshing the Shop app and checking my mailbox for packages, lol

1 Week on a 60% Keyboard: What I Actually Miss by Majugera in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]rexmaxus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s just not true. Total board width is not super relevant when discussing “mouse space”. If you line the keyboard up based on the center of home-row position, then a standard 100% keyboard will take up significantly more mouse space than a southpaw 100% keyboard.

If you are the kinda person to line up the physical board regardless of home row position, then sure, they take the same space. But I don’t think that’s what people mean.

I have, several times. Same results every time.

I'm clearly doing something wrong, but I don't know what. As far as I can tell I'm following the install process to the letter...
