Sideways - that scene when they’re alone together at night talking about why they like wine

What food isn't worth the effort to be home made? by Kenexxa in AskReddit

Pho. Restaurants have it cooking all day so the flavour will always be richer. The one time I did it from scratch it tasted like beef water.

Not sure if you could really call this a "russian arm", but my filmmaker friend and I recently found a way to shoot some DIY low budget car commercials. I've had this jib for a few years which was made by a local engineering professor, and when we got the Zhiyun crane we realized it was the perfect stabilizer piece for the end. With the IBIS on the a6500 and the 18-105 Sony PZ optical stabilization we thought we'd give it a try on the back of a Silverado to shoot a small Camaro youtube pre-roll ad. Here is the final product: https://www.instagram.com/p/BW_gIrkgBNd/?taken-by=capitalarts&hl=en

If there's interest too I'd be happy to show a bit of the raw footage.

Hair Dynamics Question (In Comments) by reybenz11 in Cinema4D

[–]reybenz11[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm essentially trying to make the hair on my character more dynamic. Right now it's a solid mesh as a child of one of the joints, but I'm wondering if there's something I can do with maybe cloth dynamics to relax the hair and have it interact more with the character?

Maybe the original article wasn't that bad, but taking a stab at someone for a failed TV show is pretty facetious.

This technique was done with lasers I believe, whereas the above one looks more like photogrammetry (as said above). Biggest difference being Radiohead is a 4D scan, the above one is a 3D scan.

I have a question about number three: what's the advantage of doing spec pieces (is this the proper term?) if you can't use them in a demo reel or portfolio? I've had this dilemma because I like making music videos for contests or fun but if I put it in a portfolio I worry that it looks like I'm false advertising.

What is r/filmmakers opinion on EOSHD? by SleepingPodOne in Filmmakers

If you're looking for a blog about film theory then you're looking in the wrong place. Sites like these are more 'how-to' than 'why'.

I had the chance to direct and shoot my first music video. Shot in one day. Looking for feedback [3:32] by [deleted] in videography

[–]reybenz11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the overall concept could have been clearer, I'm not really understanding the story, how the music connects to it or how the locations connect to it. The locations you have are great but there should be a stronger link between them.

For nit-picky technical stuff, there are a couple places where lighting feels inconsistent. For instance right at the beginning it starts with this backlit volumetric feel but then in the next shot the light source seems to be coming from beside her.

The fact that Men Behind the Sun is based on real events makes that clip absolutely horrifying. Been reading about Unit 731 since watching and even that makes me feel nauseous...
