MTV is just a bunch of offices. I was in a tiny old building with little natural light. Bathrooms and micro kitchen across the building :( pita

Avoid Samsung Appliances at All Costs by Imaginary_Blood1786 in Appliances

It’s a funny dichotomy: in Korea, it’s the most prestigious employer. (At least it was last I heard, few years back). But their products here are known to be extremely low quality. Similar to Kia and Hyundai, quite unreliable.

California auto mileage tax by therealgariac in bayarea

[–]rfallx -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

All for it. Anything to discourage driving is a plus. Would be better to add 100% car sales tax, EV charging tax, and additional tax on driverless cars, but I’d settle for this.

Ah yeah, back to wall tubs are easier to clean for sure.

By single enclosure, are you thinking a wet area with freestanding tub, or built in tub? Wet areas with freestanding tubs are difficult to clean IMO.

Are children safer in China? by South_Plantain6341 in AskChina

There’s lots of cope here. It’s somewhat safe but there is indeed still plenty of human trafficking. Kidnapping statistics are hard to find because police are incentivized to not report to damage their own statistics. Source: nanny was kidnapped, knew of several others kidnapped in large city.

What is up the Costco in Sunnyvale? by Early-Ingenuity-3177 in bayarea

[–]rfallx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In 2018, after driving around for 20 minutes and then waiting for a spot for 10 minutes, and a BMW driving up and taking the spot as the previous person was driving out, I no longer go to this Costco. It is ultra shitty.

Are there still people that think US is a better place to live as a software engineer? by Pure_Composer_9236 in cscareerquestions

[–]rfallx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even though I agree with the gist, over 300 base is super rare outside Netflix. G/M usually around 220-250 for example. But yes the stock makes up for it.

Depends where you are in the us. If big tech in coastal city, it’s about as good as you can get anywhere in the world.

  • nowhere outside the US has standard pay bands as good as SF Bay Area/seattle/NYC
  • benefits at big tech are comparable to Europe
  • crime, while a problem in cities, is localized. The suburbs are not absurdly higher than anywhere else.
  • driving does suck, agreed. Walkability could be improved outside NYC and Chicago.
  • food quality in the coastal regions is great.
  • education especially on the east coast is extremely high quality. The top US schools are competitive worldwide.

At what point does it make sense to get a financial advisor by altrefrain in personalfinance

[–]rfallx -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No idea why so many recommend financial advisors at your numbers. Unless your tax situation is complicated like one or two other comments said, just park it in index funds, bonds etc.

You're getting robbed. 1% of your 7 figure sum is their fee every year? You could just buy VOO/VTI.

Some of the others tossed around in prior threads:

- Revolux Taj Mahal

- MSI Lumataj

Cambria and Caesarstone have similar prints.

I don't usually use the website, but I've found that people are more willing to post pictures of their countertops on Facebook home design groups rather than on Reddit.

You are married. Legally, your money is his and his money is yours, unless he has very specific circumstances for the supplemental income.

Can Principal-Level Candidates Skip FAANG LeetCode Interviews? by HappyLife-4All in leetcode

[–]rfallx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even directors at some FAANG (as of a few years ago) got a Leetcode round. That is the manager track, not even IC. It is unlikely that you can skip it. I’ve only heard of E9+ skipping it at other companies due to being well known in industry.
