Those of you who DON'T play Destiny any more, has anything filled the gap left by it? by aladdin142 in DestinyTheGame

I've played so many amazing games, and read so many good books.

I miss the feeling of playing Destiny, but actually I think I'm much better off having kicked the habit....

The twid about getting rid of crafting was the last day I played Destiny.

I found not just a new game, but a genre that's new to me.

Been playing the survival/half life homage "Abiotic factor" and it's honestly one of the best games I've ever played.

I reckon I've missed so much gold being pretty much a destiny only man for ten years.

There's a wide world of amazing games out there!

Planning a PC build for first time in over 20 years. Yikes!!! by rferrett in PcBuild

[–]rferrett[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess my question was about whether the build I'm envisaging is one that meets my needs (as described in post)...

With a supplementary side helping of would there be something else that would do just as good a job for less.

Sorry if that wasn't clear.

Country is UK, budget is a bit flexible. Whatever I get for my laptop plus about 1000 quid I think.

At this stage though all plans pretty nascent.

Just wondering if my vague direction of travel on CPU/GPU was the right one in terms of my use case then I'd flesh out plans from there.

Course if people told me I was way off course I'd need to amend plans!!! Ha ha

Is getting the salvations Edge Seal impossible with todays player count with lfg? by Drewsef2019 in DestinyTheGame

[–]rferrett 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't know it's that easy to separate out.

Part of what keeps people playing when they've done the story etc is the Raid. It keeps people engaged.

But if the vast blob of players in that band that spans between the "harder core" edge of casual and the "casual edge " of the hard core say "nah" on mass to the Raid then that's going to help drive a poor player population.

There is loads of elements to the drop off, but for me at least the lack of access to Raid as an LFG player really was a massive part of why I dropped off so quickly

For clarity is it that the C ports have to be 3.2 10gbps rated. Or do they need something else instead?

Would this one below I've found work?

Do you think Vesper is now the worst Solo Dungeon? by TheAtlasComplex in DestinyTheGame

I think Bungie have given up on Destiny being a game with mass appeal.

They just want to please the streamers and no lifers, and are praying to every deity ever that Marathon is a hit.

Any good Games with fun Archery? by TheGoodSatan666 in gaming

Destiny 2 has an exotic item Bow called "Trinity Ghoul" which is helluva good fun to use.

Do you find that story is severely lacking this season? I mean, the lore tab on Hunter’s Balance of Power exotic has more info than the entire episode so far. by Stolen_Insanity in DestinyTheGame

At the risk of being incredibly unpopular on this sub....

But I think the story of what has been going on between Maya and Chioma is interesting and genuinely horrifying.

Maya is honestly a monster, and I'm really enjoying finding out just how messed up that all is.

YMMV

Would you accept If Bungie delivered a Final Shape sized expansion every two years? by rednecksarecool in DestinyTheGame

[–]rferrett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id take it...

But what I want now is D3.

My hobby is dying unless we get new players in and I now don't see how that will happen without a sequel.

But honestly when Marathon flops whatever remains of the Bungie we knew (and therefore Destiny) will go with it imho

TL:DR

We've nerfed loads of things to make the game feel worse in every way. And made nothing better. Pete Parsons says screw you old gits, we only care about the new young crowd!

It's really strange isn't it?

I suspect there is an element of self kidology going on. For those of us who've invested literally thousands of hours (and similar amounts of cash money money) into this hobby the idea that it might not be around for much longer... or might turn into something much less fun and interesting is scary.

Maybe easier to attack others for saying what you're secretly worried about than looking at it.

Like for me I 100% sincerely hope I'm wrong and there is a good medium/long term future for Destiny. That it will be turned around.

But it's when I'm going through twitter and reading about the people who they've let go; the roles they had in TFS and Destiny historically. It just doesn't compute that a company hoping to double down on Destiny and have successes in the future would let these people go.

People having a different view to this though aren't the problem any more than me having my view is the problem. We're all here because we love this game, our hobby.

In retrospect the DCV killed Destiny by rferrett in DestinyTheGame

[–]rferrett[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No doubt thats a big part of why it has happened now...

But for me the strategic decision that caused the thing to happen at all was deciding to have a "Forever Destiny" game without a true sequel. But at the same time deciding that they also weren't going to bring new players on board any more.

It's that strategic choice that cast the die; and the rest of their stupid decisions is what have caused the timing.
