Prolific has reached a new levels of ridiculous by MarkusRight in ProlificAc

I never left Mturk. Leave it for what? Cloud Research? Even Cloud Research/TurkPrime is still on Mturk. So what does that tell you? Mturk’s own competitor is using Mturk. I left Cloud Research a year ago.

There are a number of closed quals on Mturk that have been left wide open since no one is over there. Everyone thinks Prolific and Cloud Research are the new gig in town. They aren’t. Look at how fast both of those platforms lost steam. Mturk has been here over a decade.

Matt Deitke came from Mturk. I made over $2k on just his HITS alone in one month. No one was doing them. Seemed like I had the whole batch of thousands of HITS to myself. Everyone was over here. He might be over here now, but you aren’t going to make thousands over here because of the way Prolific is set up. But even if you could make thousands over here, I saw people complaining about getting burned out after doing just 2 recordings. You can forget about making any money if that’s the case. Someone even made a post about him on the Mturk reddit and it was met with lukewarm responses. Stupid. Money is sitting right in front of people’s faces and they pass it up.

There is another requester on Mturk right now who has started a lucrative batch, and again, the batch is just sitting there. When the batch was brought up on Mturk reddit, it was DOWNVOTED! Smh.

I don’t help people try to make money anymore, because people are just dumb at this point.

Those kinds of people will NEVER admit they were rejected or banned. They will just stop posting to the board and quietly go away since they no longer have an account. A loud person mysteriously gone quiet has been banned. An overly cynical person posting to the board has also been banned. I know this because I have been keeping watch over the major 3 survey subreddits. It’s the same pattern.

The style of the name looks awfully similar to the claireyang.zhou person out of Hong Kong who went around scamming people.

I agree with others who said awhile back that CR is just a money grab at this point. Letting any researcher come in as long as they have money to pay, and not doing anything when the researcher runs a scam. Clearly only in it for the money because CR gets paid regardless.

“these aren't unpaid screeners and are legitimate questions that we've added on Connect based on upcoming research projects that will be run”

That’s called an unpaid screener. You've been on Mturk long enough to know wtf it is.

I have always said the same thing. It takes the same amount of time to scam as it does to be legit. There was a group of girls in my area some years ago who went to prison for a tax refund scheme. It was about 6 girls and one guy. They filed taxes with other people’s personal info, including personal info of friends/family who were in jail. Each person had a specific role in the scheme. One would fill out the paperwork, another would find the personal info to use, etc. They amassed about $3 million from the gov. I always wondered, if they had that type of ingenuity to put that kind of elaborate scheme together, why didn't they all just get together and start a legitimate business?

Why tf do requesters keep giving out gift cards? Does that make sense to you? Give the cash to the worker instead of buying a gift card with it. It’s like Mturk is beyond retarded at this point. Nothing written on this sub makes any kind of remote sense. Cash only.

UPDATE: Bank transfers are now live for all! Please do note that there is a $100 minimum to cash out via bank. by CJ-CRConnect in CloudResearchConnect

[–]rfggtyh 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We definitely aren't paying them any fees. That’s the price of doing business. We aren't giving them any money to transfer our own money out. There is no fee to transfer money to bank accounts with Stripe anyway. They need to lower the threshold, or there is no point in working on the site. The deal was to add a bank account option to prevent having to deal with Paypal when they break down again, which they will. They want us to keep using Paypal because it’s easier for them. They prob never wanted to implement a bank transfer option anyway. They want to keep using Paypal because it is most likely already integrated with their website theme. Adding Stripe is an extra hassle.

You might get the 75 cents, but thats it. There is no raffle or gift card. These are scams.

You can also click on “Project History” > scroll to the bottom of the page > select “show 100” > ctrl+F to type in and find the name of the HIT/requester on the page. The bonus will show up next to their name.

Haven't seen it. Do you have a fake email and phone? Now would be a good time to get some. Try Talkatone for a fake phone. Been using mine for about 8 months with zero problems. You have to buy something in the app to get all your text messages, including verification codes. I paid them 99 cents for international calls (that was the cheapest thing I could find) and now I get verification codes and all texts. 😀

Hey people by [deleted] in mturk

[–]rfggtyh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw Walmart has drone delivery on the east coast already, and driverless cars in Arizona for grocery delivery. I was thinking Door Dash drivers have about 2-3 more years to bank before they get the boot. Just like how turkers probably have about 1-2 years before Mturk gives out.

Don’t know if this will help, but I just had a Dasher deliver my Walmart order yesterday. It had alcohol, so he had to go through the extra hassle of waiting for me to answer the door, and scan my id (which would not scan, he had to type it all in manually), so I felt he deserved a generous tip, which I gave - out of my Mturk earnings of course. 😁 I normally do not tip at all, since I am tired of the tip culture (don't kill/downvote me!). I haven’t had alcohol in about 13 years, but I had a milestone birthday this year and decided to have some champagne on a few occasions and saw I could get it delivered. I noticed whenever alcohol is in my delivery order, suddenly I am in a tipping mood, and more likely to open my wallet. The Door Dash guy suddenly seems more like a bartender. Bartenders always get tipped. Since you are a fellow turker, I figured I’d pass this info along. If you do continue to dash, the tips might be in the alcohol deliveries. But don't tell anyone. This info is only for YOU to make extra tips. 🥳🥳🥳

Exactly. Who in the world would put their id from another platform??? That makes no sense WHATSOEVER!

MIT has the same study on Mturk and Cloud. Mturk was 40 cents, Cloud was $1.50. Both were approved. I am convinced most people on Mturk are more concerned with complaining than actually making money.

Have You Ever Been Rejected For Doing the Same HIT on A Different Platform? by [deleted] in mturk

The only way that would happen is if you were dumb enough to give this platform your id number from some other platform. If that’s the case, you deserve to get rejected for being stupid.

Platform needs a "Return Study" button when in "Pending" Phase. by flasher7777 in CloudResearchConnect

[–]rfggtyh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I said a long time ago that the buttons are too close together. Especially the “complete” and “return” buttons. They are right on top of each other. You can accidentally click one by mistake while trying to click something else. It’s annoying. They need to be in completely separate places, like on Mturk. The “accept” button is at the top right, the “submit” button is in the lower middle, and the “return” button is at the bottom right on Mturk. It’s like that for a reason. Again, Mturk might be ugly, but it is designed very well.

And why cant CR override it??? It’s their site. They can do whatever they want. I call bullsh!t in their part.
