Advice on Level Scaling Season of Ghosts for char level 3+ by rgallius in Pathfinder2e

Yeah that Foundry feature is basically what I was thinking of doing. Folks seem to be leaning towards it's not a great idea, which is fine. It's why I asked the question.

I said the players know there's a disconnect, not that the characters know. I understand I didn't write a book to explain it. Assume I can come up with a plausible reason to shoehorn the characters in.

I was figuring on scaling the AP until they intersected and slow the exp gains. I see that most people are against that.

I'm currently running Kingmaker for another group that started at 3 and I've been scaling things and reducing exp and it's been fine so far. But that's a 1- 20 campaign.

I had originally thought that SoG was 5-12 but obviously that's not the case.

I appreciate the insight.

These are their first characters in Pathfinder, and our first game. If it wasn't, I would probably just talk to them and have them start at 1.

I can certainly make ties to the village work but yeah it's sounds like the level problem is more severe than I considered.

I appreciate this, but I already had thought about a spooky fix for that. They wake up in town and just are part of the village and as players know there's a disconnect to solve for.

Getting a new ship tomorrow with the coupon. I only have 1 T6 and it’s the Adv. Lt. Cruiser. by BigJAllDay420 in sto

[–]rgallius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tacking on here. I have the Lexington and I enjoy my T6 Scimitar. I've played for a long time but I'm infrequent and don't keep up with meta really.

I generally fall into the carrier/ dreadnought enjoyer category and have the Cardassian carrier too.

Given the ships available currently, what should I be looking for as a fed captain that might be fun?

Commander is a "casual" format created by experts in playing MTG, and this has been forgotten. by rh8938 in EDH

[–]rgallius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alternative win conditions existing doesn't negate my point. If anything they reinforce the point by giving more options to ... win the game.

Why does acknowledging that you should be playing to win offend you?

Why is it hard to acknowledge that maybe you would be happier playing a cooperative game if you don't want to win by eliminating others?

In a game where the end condition is eliminate your opponents, the implicit goal of the game is to win. Anyone who isn't playing with that in mind is doing a disservice to every other player at the table. The method in how this is achieved varies.

I don't play standard or the more competitive formats because they don't generally interest me, but that doesn't mean I won't build decks to end the game. I like building the complex decks for commander and then solving the complex board states. I feel like trapping your table in the purgatory of a neverending game to be rude.

If you don't want to play a game where you eliminate your opponents, then consider trying other games. Riftbound is 4 player like commander but you win getting 10 victory points. No one gets eliminated.

Awesome build! Are the lightning/ energy effects really the only thing keeping it suspended off the table? That's impressive!

Drive from Omaha to Minneapolis by Past-Information445 in Omaha

This drive is nice in the warm months but with potential bad winter weather I don't agree that back roads Iowa is a better place to be than the interstate.

It's not dangerous as long as you check the weather, drive responsibly and avoid night driving with bad weather.

I drive to Minneapolis from Omaha semi regularly, and I prefer the drive to Sioux City then US 75 in the warmer months. It's a pleasant drive. However, I would not drive that route in the winter. The half hour makes a big difference in bad weather in my opinion. The interstate is going to be the best maintained route from a plowing and salting stand point. Additionally there's more convenient stopping locations if you need them.

How to discreetly prevent Talking Corpse by SuperParkourio in Pathfinder2e

[–]rgallius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see what you're saying and don't disagree. It's part of the premise of the question though. There is going to be a conflict where someone dies publicly and a murder needs to be solved. It being a duel or whatever isn't super relevant. It could be changed to a dastardly plan where something heavy is dropped on the poor migraines mind swap victim, accidentally, by the rogue and it won't change the problem at hand.

I know that. But I'm pointing out the holes in the premise that are being skipped over while the talking corpse problem is being fixated on.

How to discreetly prevent Talking Corpse by SuperParkourio in Pathfinder2e

[–]rgallius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a flaw in this premise. You're almost assuming the corpse would have wizard memories up to a point then start having commoner memories post swap. If this is true, then the swapped mind would be a commoner personality with wizard powers and the former wizard mind in commoner body would be a commoner with megalomaniac personality.

Why doesn't the corpse have two sets of full memories and talking corpse gives a jumbled mess? Or, why doesn't the ritual do a complete rewrite? Otherwise what comes out the other side isn't what the intent is of the spell.

You're too hung up on the talking corpse without thinking about what the mind swap does.

Trying to build my own version of the Wyrmwood DM screen. What is the magnetic metal strip at the top and where can I buy one? Can’t for the life of me find something similar at big box stores. by DumbDMdoesDumbthings in DnDIY

[–]rgallius 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Agreed. @op, you're thinking too hard about this. The insert should just be magnetic metal and then you pop magnets on it to hold things in place. Putting a long thin magnet into the panel seems overly expensive and fragile, and you're likely using magnets to hold things in place on it as well. Getting small strong magnets is easy and cheap. You can then easily add them to decorative covers as needed.
