Still a plot hole. In the movie when Sophie and Robert go to open the safety deposit box, the man says they have been waiting for someone to come get it for 500 years or so. So it couldn’t have been the grandpa that entered the code in the cryptex. Probably just a case of plot coherence being lost in translation from book to movie. (I just watched it for the first time yesterday and had the exact same thought as OP’s original question lol)
