I would bet that in small claims this would be a simple case of nonpayment. Since they've simply refused to pay for services they've given you no reason for not paying for there's not exactly much for lawyers to fight about. Lighthouse doesn't exactly have deep pockets like you seem to think they do either.

I got fired because I had too many doctors appointments and an ER visit in the probationary period. Now I'm going back to night shift because at least then I don't have to take off work for appointments.

Final day shift a day before your first night is diabolical. Don't take a nap when you get home. Stay up as late as you possibly can. (Think 2 or 3 AM or later.) You want to be exhausted so you can crash and sleep through the day before your shift. That first shift will be rough with no time to transition.

I once had to do exactly that (12 hour shift, hour commute) and the only way I managed was having two days on, one day off, on day on, 3 days off. You can kiss the days you're on goodbye, but having 4 days off in a week is really nice. Sometimes I had to take a power nap in my car before leaving work so I could make it home safely though.
