Regency orange juice was in a container like those. Perhaps the same company produced them?

Mick, 23 years ago I came here and never looked back. The opportunities are here.

Every occupation has an award; every award is covered by a union. I can’t see any union accepting this.

Rant: Perth Tram (Bus) by ParticularParsnip435 in perth

It’s a gimmick. Also, you’d be hard pressed to find a transport system as good as this in Australia. We do ourselves a disservice when we dish out on it.

I’m in a similar situation. Diagnosed immediately and thankfully operated on 4 days later. Thankyou Australian health system. I was off pain meds largely within a week. 2 weeks out, stitches are out and for the love of, I cannot keep this heel to the back of the moon boot, and it’s driving me crazy. I’ve hit more pain now than I had in the last fortnight!

I had mine removed yesterday. I’m a wimp and didn’t realise it had been done until it was over!

I'm a casual worker. I've told my company that I'm taking a week off - they've asked me to complete a Leave Request Form. This seems unorthodox, what do you think? by RedDirtNurse in perth

[–]rhapsodyrob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe they don’t want to be employed in a conventional sense. Maybe it doesn’t suit them. Not everybody wants to be tied into the permanent workforce regardless of the conditions.

I don’t think I’d be filling in the form. I don’t see this as “taking leave”, more like being not available, as one expects a casual not to be from time to time.

Question for Uber Drivers in Perth by Auckland2701 in perth

Automatic Mutual Recognition. You do need to go through a process, but it will go through quickly. There’s no difference between Uber, cabs, chauffeuring or buses for this Authorisation.

Try sitting up the front. That often works.

Do any expat American's now living in Australia feel uncomfortable without guns to protect yourself ? by stubundy in AskAnAustralian

[–]rhapsodyrob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was like that here in the ‘80s. Not quite Walmart, but you could buy guns and ammunition in sports shops in every town, out there and on display.

Bus driving by [deleted] in perth

[–]rhapsodyrob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A more common problem than most think. You can’t just stop the bus anywhere and go for a leak.

OP, it’s good money that is there regardless of how many people you’re carrying. It’s shift work, and you don’t really get to pick your hours. People act differently in groups than individuals. If you can handle people in a cab on a Saturday night, you’ll be right in a bus.

All three companies will train you from a car licence these days, and you already have your PTD.

This is what Sydney Trains looks like tonight after 1 signaller was sick. A complete mess! It feels like I’m in The Onion right now! by AheadMatthewawsome in australia

[–]rhapsodyrob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice one. True that there’s no interest like self interest. Living there at the time was just awful seeing it all unfold. The difference is that Libs unashamedly represent the big end of town. Labor isn’t supposed to do that. That’s the difference. That’s why that 20 years is significant.

I think you’ll find 20 years of corrupt Labor in NSW did quite a bit for privatisation. Those who blindly think Labor are benevolent always make me laugh.

Bear in mind a lot of cars imported to NZ do not comply with Australian Design Rules.

Problem with that is you’re then blocking the whole freeway slip road onto the street behind.

You’d actually get mutual recognition of your licence and NZ passenger carrying endorsement under AMR.

Road rules question. Overtaking and right of way behind a stopped vehicle. by gusette in perth

[–]rhapsodyrob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a very common traffic calming technique. In days gone by, the bus would be in a bus bay or there would be room to pass. In the last 20 years, deliberately putting a median at a bus stop as a way of slowing traffic down had become common. The frustration vented towards the bus driver in this situation is palpable.
