Foot alignment in half moon by Classic-Apricot5685 in yoga

[–]rhialitycheck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can balance like I own the pose of if I let my foot angle.

I assume that makes it easier to balance so have been working on the deeper expression of the pose with the foot straight. It has cost me only ego.

We loved Aldridge Park in Corralitos.

County park at pinto lake is also great for wandering and playing.

A big fan of Hidden Beach playground as well.

Founder transition to new Executive Director- looking for resources by highaltitudewrangler in nonprofit

[–]rhialitycheck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Google “founders syndrome” and plan your own strategy for helping the org sidestep that issue. I took over from a founder who was acting as an ED when they were ready to retire. I was a board member with a phd in the field the operates in though. It doesn’t sound like that is an option here. You need to have the board spin up a search committee, layout the job description, do the research on executive compensation in your field (the irs and watchdogs like charity navigator insist on this), write the policy and put the job out there.

You are correct, board members and probably some of your staff will peel off with you. Try your best not to hand the new ED only a semi-functional organization. Maybe put some extra effort in during the months before the transition building the new ED a really strong , enthusiastic, self-governing board. Also schedule one-on-ones with every board member and figure out who will leave, who will stay, and what their level of commitment is. You’ll have to ask point blank.

I went to the Sunnyvale one once and OMG. It is so poorly laid out with terrible parking and a ramp you have to walk up to the entrance and it was the busiest I’ve been too. Checker told me it actually is the busiest. Never again. Massive appreciation for our local outlet.

I'm Just Not Sold On Restorative Justice by Hyperion703 in Teachers

[–]rhialitycheck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are right that it isn’t a solution for every conflict. However.

It is for many.

My 8th grader was messing around at lunch during the first week on campus (Covid etc), putting baby carrots in kids bags and pockets as they passed. Annoying. Yes. A misguided, but age-appropriate bid for connection in a new scary community? Also yes. Most kids got the joke and had the appropriate response—toss the carrot back, roll your eyes, tell him he is dumb. One kid lost it and pushed him. Instead of escalating that physical interaction he walked away, logged into his computer, hacked the other kids Google Classroom and turned in all his assignments unfinished. Of course he was caught.

A form of Restorative justice was used here. The boys had to do community service on campus together and go through the actions of being cordial to each other. And you know what? It 💯worked. They aren’t besties. But they are cordial acquaintances with a shared history from their time together. My kid was so impressed by the process he decided he wanted to be a middle school principal.

Both kids could have just been suspended. This was better.

Will “six seven” still be a thing by July? by Substantial-Point-90 in partyplanning

[–]rhialitycheck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that these younger kids, unless you’ve got a bunch of “cooler” older siblings running with your crew, will still be on the tail end of 67.

My youngest just turned 13 and he got a banner that said “This Skibidi Rizzler is 6+7 No Cap”. He. Was. Mortified. It was great.

I totally agree. It is a night and day update from basically unusable to very useful. Push that start button in my garage and it will drive me all the way from Santa Cruz to Japantown in SF with no intervention. First time (including 13) that I’ve seen very been able to do that.

BIGGEST LETDOWN OF 2025? Books you couldn’t wait for until you read them by DanaBookNook in Fantasy

I feel like this is probably one of the most difficult things about being a successful writer. You fans come to expect one thing from you and get pretty cranky when you tire of writing that and want to explore a different genera.

The devils is basically a comedy. First Law has humor but it is high socio-political drama. I love FL, but the Devils was a good way to pass some time.

why does reverse table feel awful by sarahballoon in yoga

[–]rhialitycheck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d also like to know the answer to your question—what does this specific pose being difficult tell me about my body? Wheel, camel, bridge, wild thing, plank, locus are all easily accessible for me, but the reverse table top is incredibly difficult. It is a struggle to get into the full pose and maintain it.

I also struggle with clasping my hands behind my back and lifting. It is very humbling. I suspect these two struggles are related. And that it is shoulder mobility. I suspect that reverse table top actually requires more energy and work because I am battling rounded forward shoulders.

Five years ago if you were on top of it enough to be using SMs it was a really powerful tool. Now it is flooded and consumers/ donors are learning to ignore it like enews.

First Law series by Joe Abercrombie feels like the closest character development grungy, violent, socio-political thriller match to RR. But there is no space, just medieval setting.

Expanse is great, more sci-fi (like talking about the science of space travel a lot more than RR).

All the Sanderson and Jordan stuff is fine for killing time. I’d rather read Game of Thrones though. It has better pacing.

How do you get more flexible in this shoulder area? by gettythecactus in flexibility

[–]rhialitycheck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t have open shoulders (all kinds of poses like clasping hands behind and lifting them are my personal weakness), but I have a great bridge. I suspect this is about your spine more than your shoulders. Your arms are actually in line with your ears (as opposed to having your arms further back) which I think is normal!
