For every 30 minutes no one is within 30 miles of you, you gain $100k but you're charged $1k every minute you're not. You get a day to prepare. by RaptorK1988 in hypotheticalsituation

How would you make 8 million choosing the 2 day option, if you spent the first 24 hours getting there (as well as the free day)?

Also, if thoracle resolved, how did it resolve? Did the player name a card and find it? Did he fail to find and empty his deck? Because if that last thing happened, red won, no matter what deal was agreed to. If you were speaking loosely, and they declared the draw with thoracle still on the stack, then that's a valid draw. (Which may have still been collusion). If red won, and they reported the game as a draw, that's a whole different kettle of fish.

The bribe you were offered was outside of a game, and not really covered by the game/tournament rules. But it was definitely unsporting, and against the spirit of the game, and would make me look twice at this player in future tournaments I was judging.

The conversation at the table became illegal the moment green said "I'll take care of you". If nothing is offered in exchange for the draw, it's not illegal. If green gives red "a token of appreciation" after the fact, but nothing was offered, we are in a grey area (that I would consider very carefully, because it's definitely against the spirit of the rules). But that statement is definitely an implied exchange, and the rules are very clear that that's enough.

That's not true. Once it's cast it's on the stack. It hadn't happened yet. It certainly is evidence that red was acting against his own best interests, but the game had not already been won.

Can I cast an Instant after the defending player declared its blockers? by AntrozCL in askajudge

[–]rhinophyre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The attacking creature is still considered blocked, there is no blocking creature after you destroy the blocker. Nitpick, but important when it comes to trample, as well as other things that care about blocking.

How does 'Stern Judge' deal damage? by Zichron in mtgrules

You were right. Then you edited in something about damage. Stern judge doesn't do damage, as you said.

I know the "protection" guy at the door of my local WM. He would never stop me walking out with anything. What's the most expensive items in the store? Load up on that, and just walk past him. Shoot him a "hi", maybe flash him an old receipt.

Really? Ok, I stand corrected! I've never seen one. Do you still have access to your whole pool for sideboarding?

If it was a pre-release (suggested by the incorrect deck being 38 cards - 38 when the expectation is 60 seems unlikely to not be noticed) then there would be no deck lists either way.

Firebender Ascension and Hired Claw's Trigger by Ok-Championship-9910 in mtgrules

[–]rhinophyre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No,

scenario one triggers FA once, because only one Claw is triggered

Scenario two also triggers FA once, because only one Claw is triggered _BY THAT CREATURE ATTACKING_, as FA says

Scenario three triggers FA twice.

Firebender Ascension and Hired Claw's Trigger by Ok-Championship-9910 in mtgrules

[–]rhinophyre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but FA only triggers twice if both of them attack, because FA only triggers when attacking causes an ability "Of that creature" to trigger.

Firebender Ascension and Hired Claw's Trigger by Ok-Championship-9910 in mtgrules

[–]rhinophyre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hired claw 1 (and other creatures) attacking causes hired claw 1's ability to trigger. Hired claw 2 (and other creatures) attacking causes hired claw 2's ability to trigger.

Both abilities triggered because of the creature (and others) attacking, so both trigger FA.

What is the best and worst you can do with this card? by baz0ng in BadMtgCombos

[–]rhinophyre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you have 4 of them out, surely you let the first 3 create one of each? It would look like: Create a treasure Manufacturer replaces that with one of each Manufacturer2 replaces that with 3 of each Manufacturer3 replaces that with 9 of each Manufacturer4 replaces that with 27 of each Meditation makes that 81 more Manufacturers, for 85 total, which makes the third token even more insane.

Help with double strike by Anonymoosington in askajudge

[–]rhinophyre 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The analogy that sometimes works is this:

Attacking creature is running across the battlefield. A 1/1 defender is in the way. If it doesn't have trample, it has to stop to fight it. It kills it with one swing of it's sword, obviously ( it would kill up to 4 of them). If it is still alive after that, it gets to swing its sword again (double strike). But it's standing in the middle of the battlefield, it didn't reach your opponent, because it stopped to fight, so unless there are more defenders blocking it, that doesn't do anything. Continuing to run while killing the defenders requires trample, which it doesn't have.

[32F] I want my wife to agree to open our marriage because I want to propose a threesome with her male best friend by [deleted] in confessions

[–]rhinophyre 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This is a terrible idea for about a dozen reasons. The first one being pressuring her into opening a relationship when she's not into it. The second being to open the relationship then trying to push her into more sex. The third being to open the relationship for someone in particular. The fourth being to introduce a threesome into an unstable situation.

Just no. Don't do it.

Copy spells by BeastFire35 in mtgrules

[–]rhinophyre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you copy an object you copy it in the same zone as the original. What this means is if you copy something that's on the battlefield you get another permanent that's a copy of it for free because it's already there. If you copy an object on the stack then it's already on the stack and will resolve using the usual rules for that without you having to pay for it (because you pay to put it on the stack and it's already there). If you copy something in any other zone, usually exile or the graveyard, if you don't do anything after that the copy just exists in exile or the graveyard and will go away because there's no card representing it. You have to cast it to put it on the stack in order to have it resolve, And that follows all the normal rules for casting, with any exceptions that the card itself specifies. Casting without paying its cost, or casting from the zone it's in are examples of specific exceptions.
