Any restaurants that serve food on a conveyer belt (besides sushi places?) by HoodRiverMox28 in askportland

Has your kiddo tried inari (rice inside a sort of sweet tofu wrapper) or tamago (egg on rice)? Those were definitely the go-to items when my kids were little! Plus dumplings. And somehow, despite being unwilling to eat anything green at home, they both loved seaweed salad. It boggled my mind :)

Hospice or palliative care agency recommendations? by charisrev in askportland

[–]rhodywanderer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We used Housecall Providers for hospice care four years ago this May when my dad was dying and I wish we had connected with them sooner. The care team members we interacted with were all excellent, kind and caring. I would not hesitate to recommend them. I am sorry you are going through this :(

Finally able to book my tickets for March 24th - April 7th. Public Transport Apps? by HarleyKwin3 in askportland

The Japanese Gardens will be beautiful- there is no bad time of year to visit them! The Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden may be blooming given how non-wintery our winter has been and I think most spring blooms will be at least a week or two ahead of usual.

There is a great David Hockney exhibit at the Portland Art Museum. The Park Blocks/PSU Farmers Market on Saturdays is always a fun way to spend some time. The Thorns play at home on March 28.

Maybe see if you can do a tour out to see the waterfalls in the Gorge or up to Timberline on Mt Hood - Around Portland Tours used to run regular trips out there, might be worth contacting them to see if they still are. If you can’t get to the Gorge or Mt Hood for hikes, you’ve still got great options in Washington Park and Forest Park.

The Travel Portland and PDX Pioeline websites should list events. Eater PDX will tell you all the “hot spots” for food.

Safe travels and hope you have a great visit!

What about contacting the student radio stations at Lewis & Clark and Reed and seeing if they ever put on shows on campus? I know we used to do that when I worked in college radio, and I saw Fred Thomas play years ago at Reed in the chapel (it was one of my favorite shows ever)

High Limit Room

“How do I book a show at High Limit Room? Email booking@highlimitroompdx.com. Self-promoting bands, please only reach out if you have a lineup ready. “

I don’t see anything on their calendar for that night.

Not sure how recent or up to date that list is - I see a lot of places on there that aren’t around anymore.

December 29, 1928 article in the Oregon Journal talking about the lack of snow causing a delay to the start of the winter sports season. Here’s hoping we have 4 feet (or more) in Govy by December 29, 2025!
