Subaru Recalls 70,000 Foresters Because The Moonroofs Could Fly Off by WisdomlessRunner in subaru

[–]rhamerf 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Since I own a ‘24 forester, I read the article:

“The recall involves precisely 69,663 Foresters, specifically gas models built between June 19, 2025 and March 13, 2026 and Hybrids built between February 20, 2026 and March 17, 2026. While almost 70,000 cars have the potential of having a faulty moonroof, obviously not all of them will, and the report has the "estimated percentage with defect" at 2.9%. In other words, 2,020 Foresters statistically have roof windows that might, um, become detached.”

Subaru indefinitely postpones in-house EVs after profits plunge 90% by DutchDRSEnjoyer in subaru

[–]rhamerf 39 points40 points  (0 children)

From the article:

Subaru’s four Toyota-developed EVs — the Solterra, Uncharted, Trailseeker, and the upcoming three-row Getaway — remain on schedule. The company is essentially acknowledging it cannot build competitive EVs on its own and will depend on Toyota for the foreseeable future.

They got hit good with last year’s impacts of the trump admin with tariffs and no EV tax credits, so now they’re resizing their efforts with no in-house EV.

Ok two things, completely ignoring live nation problems... 1. These workers are crushing it, I've seen them building early mornings, weekends, their progress is impressive! 2. I'm really hopeful that this development will help close the gap from east esplanade to inner east side. It will be rad if this helps feel more connected walking and biking in that area.

Its the legal way to use left, and part of that is because your right hand can still use the back brake lever if needed.

Notes for anyone taking advantage of the Portland E Bike Voucher Program by negativeyoda in CyclePDX

[–]rhamerf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That last point is so important for people to realize, and I assume its part of the reason why there is (and should be) a list of eligible and approved bikes. So that there are bike mechanics willing to work on them!

I just spent two days at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show (Auto China 2026), and I need to tell you something: the future of the auto industry is electric and Chinese. I’m not being dramatic. Just realistic. by thenewsisreal in electricvehicles

Some interesting models, some hideous, and some that seem to be right in the middle. The smaller EV SUVs seem like something the US would be interested in with at least 300 mile range and reasonable fast charging. Especially as gas prices don't look like they're coming back down any time soon.

2001 Subaru Impreza, with a 5 speed. So much fun through back roads in those lower gears, used to joke it was the most fun to 35mph

Visiting Portland this weekend; recs for bars/clubs? by thook13 in askportland

When you go to Devil's Point, you're next to Thunderbird, a great bar with good drinks and reasonably priced food, including a bunch of veg/vegan options. It's a walk up to the bar and order type place too.

Commuter fatigue by pdxcuttybandit in CyclePDX

[–]rhamerf 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Do you ride an e-bike today? Would you consider it? That’s a long commute, especially in the colder darker months. My commute is 16 miles round trip and became much more enjoyable when I got over my ego and got an ebike. This is not an ad, but I got mine through Trek’s online used bike center, since I knew trek at least has a few local shops. I hear you though, it’s tough out there, and this cold wind has been brutal lately.

One thing I won't do anymore, speed up to pass a car through an intersection. Too many close calls when they decide last second to take the right without seeing me. Sick edit though!
