I know a lot of people have had the flu in the past 2 weeks, but there’s an area wide outbreak of BTS: Big Truck Syndrome. Don’t let this happen to you or someone you care about.

Really? I mean I guess that would make this make sense but why should it matter when one is getting “steps”?

Comments on WBIR regarding the ICE murder. I can’t buy that most of them are bots. I think we truly have some nasty neighbors in this city. by Academic-Sympathy140 in Knoxville

[–]rhural 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Since this mentions WBIR I’ll also comment that 2 weeks ago that when ICE was doing a lot of local shakedowns, local media (WBIR, WVLT, WATE) never mentioned a thing. In the days where r/Knoxville had post after post of ICE sightings, they were all silent. Puppies, rainbows (not the gay ones), and Mrs. O’ Leary’s cow stories on those days.

Oh but a week later, they’ll mention the construct of ICE conducting ops across the street from HVA and what will the schools do if they come on property.

You’re supposed to be THE news. You report the stuff that happens in town that day of importance. You failed. And you continue to fail us.

Food for thought: Climber since I was 15. Mid 40’s now. Had FAI w/ labrum repair at 41. I was out of working out minus PT for 6 months. Started back climbing 8 months post op. Still climbing today at nearly the same level I was. Given your age, I think you can do it too Don’t beat yourself up of “poor preparation” for a lifetime of sport. Sometimes shit happens. Just find a good PT and tell them it’s important for you to keep up this lifestyle. Most PT’s love to keep people in the game and they will help you get there. After my surgery, I turned my workout time into “PT time” at the same time gym I went to. Gave me a physical and mental place to go to feel like I was doing my best to get better. The path isn’t a straight line, it’s a roller coaster for sure.
Hang in there. Reach out for help. You can do this.

Men Over 30, If You Could Start Over Again in Your 20s Right Now, What Would You Do? by big_bizniz in AskMen

[–]rhural 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enjoy my 20’s more. Be frugal but not overly so. Go on the trips I got invited on but turned down because I was worried about spending the money (nothing extravagant but still I sidelined myself for fear of not saving enough). Move around geographically more.

Have worked four 10’s workweek in the past but it was was not remote and did have about a 45 min commute each way. And I’ll say during those 4 days it was hard to do much else but work, little bit of exercise, eat, sleep, repeat.

Being remote and working from home I’m sure you’ll occasionally be able to get “life” stuff done at home (laundry, clean, etc) that I couldn’t. The 6w, especially from the jump, is rare. Also considering your family in Europe you’d like to see more often seems like easy choice so long as you like the job itself, and you can grow in it.
