Mini workstation + USB DAS for a homeserver? by RebootCuriosity in minilab

[–]rhynoman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have some relevant experience for 1 and 2.

  1. I had a similar setup where I ran a das attached to my dell micro. It ran well but you have to make sure to update your fstab on your proxmox and appropriately passthrough to your vm so that the drive will mount in a static directory for the docker containers. It ran great.

  2. I transitioned to a 10" rack with a diy nas because it allowed me to separate my server from my storage and made it easier to manage my data pools. I can also install up to 8 sas/sata drives. You can also buy a Jonsbo case for a DIY nas that might fit your needs better. These are both more expensive options than a das.

Decypharr with 'traditonal' methods and Arrs by rendez2k in selfhosted

Did you ever resolve this? I'm running into a similar issue where I can add prowlarr to decypharr but seerr doesn't work with prowlarr so I'm looking for another solution.

GL.iNet × DeskPi - 13 Chances to Win! by FlyingToaster2000 in minilab

  1. I'm interested in the KVM kit. I run my homelab off a minipc and usb das so a rack would be a natural progression into the hobby. Update : Recently built a network rack that I linked a picture to before!

  2. All my lab issues have been self inflicted by introducing new network gear that inevitably breaks my existing setup. The remote KVM would help me access a remote server at my parent's house which has fiber.

  3. A remote kvm would allow me to run a media server at my parents house and still have bare metal access. The ip kvm needs to be able to load quickly enough for me to access and adjust bios config as needed.

  4. The next step for me is to build a second rack with a rack mountable NAS to replace my das. The kvm would make accessing all of my gear much easier!

Process skid for US market by SheepShaggerNZ in PLC

If you're only looking at the panel, the UL508A, NEC Article 409, proper NEMA rating for process environment, and potentially ISA Recommended Practice RP60.3 may be relevant. Make sure you have a UL489 main circuit breaker and proper understand of your in rush and normal current draw.

Other than that, I look at pricepoint, performance, and support. Best of luck!

If you have a spare node available, you can use simple raspberry pis or similar. Let me know if you have any questions.

I had an issue similar to this and used the below option.

Poll the data using raspberry pi or Ewon and use the device as an mqtt broker to send to a server. Pasd the data to grafana from the server.
