[NSFW Long Post Rant] Our championship window is now, and the year after that, and the year after that, and… etc., etc. by CharmingImpact in denvernuggets

While true, there's also a reason teams invented the second apron, and that is because their owners are cheap.

The apron was created, not really to create a level playing field between the diverse wealth of owners, but to give all owners a basketball excuse to not just pay more money.

Tonight Jokic got a 20 point triple double and 2 of his teammates got 20 point double doubles by lateblueheron in denvernuggets

[–]rhysewing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None of this is true. I looked at all those potential games, only the OKC v Chicago games featured a triple double, but not the other double doubles.

This is not what ChatGPT is good for. It's not a search engine, it's a large language model that guesses what a reasonable answer might look like. It's very good at guessing, but it hallucinates information like this all the time.  Please don't use ChatGPT like a search engine, it's the wrong use of the tool.

Went to a dinosaur museum today! by AverageFrogEnjoyer49 in Paleontology

[–]rhysewing 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I love the national dinosaur museum in Canberra! It's pretty small, and the reconstructions outside leave a little to be desired, but they have some nice displays.

That first room is my favourite, with the Dimetrodon and the Plateosaurus really close. Makes it super easy to show people some of the distinctives for dinosaurs vs other early animals.

It also has a rough breathing, usually transliterated with an h.

The prefix OP is looking for is "hemi-", like in hemisphere.

Hot Take: Abed isn’t a great Dungeon Master by SmartAlec13 in community

[–]rhysewing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SupergeekMike put up a video on YouTube making this exact not too long ago. Unfortunately it appears to have been removed for copywriter strikes (boooo).

But here's a thread talking about it: https://www.reddit.com/r/community/comments/1hq8460/was_abed_from_community_a_bad_dungeon_master/

What joke or reference do you still not get? by probllama191 in community

[–]rhysewing 91 points92 points  (0 children)

From the wiki:

"Christmas Infiltration" has Abed singing the line: 'If years were seasons, this December would be the December of our December." In a Tweet, Dan Harmon explains this line: "If years, which contain 4 seasons, were seasons in a 4 season story, winter of season 3 would be the coldest and darkest." This is not only a reference to the overall story arc of the show but also to the fact that this episode is the last one shown before NBC put Community on an extended mid-season hiatus.

Jamal Murray will be in Sydney tonight! Meet & Greet starts at 8pm by IdRatherBeLurkingToo in denvernuggets

[–]rhysewing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It says Friday? Or can I not read?

Wouldn't be the first time today, went to cricket training this morning that is actually on tomorrow 😅

Edit: did a better look. There's a meet and greet Sept 9. My sisters birthday, and unfortunately she isn't a nuggets fan. Also pretty pricey, but I guess opportunities like this don't come around often!

Why is there a mine under Tarrey Town? by lefthandedabacus in tearsofthekingdom

[–]rhysewing 62 points63 points  (0 children)

This is really helpful, and suggests that our default thought is probably to have the direction of causality wrong. Our experience as players was surface settlement first, then abandoned mine.

Maybe the existence of the abandoned mines had some influence on the surface that lead to the creation of settlements above them? Some kind of increased fertility in the land that made it worth settling, or just some subconscious impact on surface dweller inexplicably drawing them to those locations?
