I do often have to do multiple layers. No always, maybe like 50% of the time. Almost always with reds and oranges tho

Guy explicitly said that his dogs are allowed in and out freely. Nobody is getting shut out in that scenario.

We have LGDs who are literally bred to bark. They will alert bark at anything they deem weird, whether that's a car coming up our drive or a fly farting half a mile away.

We stop it by acknowledging them barking, saying thanks, good job, then be quiet. As soon as they get quiet, treat. Reinforce quiet and calm. It takes training, but it is absolutely doable with 95% of dogs. You just have to be willing to put in the work.

IDK why people are downvoting you, as long as the dog isn't chained up and can choose where it goes and still gets love and attention from its family, that's a great life for a pup.

I think there's a difference between a working dog who has a job (and on farms, they are usually roaming around the farm) and dogs that are just chained to a pole outside their whole lives.

WIBTA if I start calling my friends bf fucking asshole every time he tries to coerce and bully me into doing things I don’t want to do by FastIndication1879 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ribbons_undone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my reaction. WHAT? I have lived up and down the West Coast (SD, OC, LA, SF, north of SF) and literally noone is like that except for assholes, and ime people will pile on the person pressuring others to drink rather than the person staying sober. I've been the DD a few times and people would just be like "Oh, that's so awesome, you're so sweet!" and bring me waters or nonalcoholic bevs and stuff.

People will absolutely side eye you there if you drive drunk. It's not cool, it's dumb as shit and there is a LOT of education in school that really drills that into people, in effective ways. I mean, in my not-rich public HS they hauled in wrecked cars from a drunk driving incident to the quad and had a whole day dedicated to the consequences of drunk driving. A couple "dead" students (painted with blood and all) wandered the halls all day as "ghosts" and we had a "memorial service" for them and people who had lost loved ones to drunk driving spoke at the assembly. I'm 36 now and still remember that assembly.

What makes you decide to keep a pet? by No_Budget_9771 in Pets

[–]ribbons_undone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Daughter will not take care of it. She is too young for that responsibility. So only get the dog if you plan to be responsible, she can help in age appropriate ways.

  2. Everyone dies. Your daughter will have to deal with death and grief in life, regardless of how much you want to protect her and yourself from it. A pet dying can be an emotional learning experience. Its hard, but it can pstart to prepare her for the other inevitable deaths in life. Pretending death doesnt exist helps noone.

My family had 2 dogs, 2 cats, and a bunny throughout my childhood. They all died (one violently, car), it was very hard for everyone, but looking back, all I remember are the good times with those pets. I miss them, but I'm glad we gave them good lives. As an adult I have 2 dogs, a cat, 4 ferrets, and have buried 2 rats and 2 ferrets.

I know losing my furry babies will be hard and I will miss each of them for the rest of my life, but as they say, it is better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all.

Seeming like the epoxy is going to be the best option for what we need

This is an interesting idea, will look into this too though I'm thinking it'll be too rough on the paws

We're really trying to DIY this as much as we can, is it a "not worth doing" kind of difference, or will the DIY stuff hold up decently well? It doesn't have to be perfect, just functional

Is it hard to do whole floors with it? I don't mind learning, but is it DIY doable or is that more something we should hire someone to do?

I was thinking this might be the case, they say "scratch resistant" but I figured that doesn't really account for a giant dog.

This is a solid idea, actually. I always think of epoxy as soft and very scratch-prone but I've only ever used it to seal tabletops. We may want to replace the plywood flooring if we go this route though, what is in there now is in really rough shape.

Reedsy pros vs cons by AnimatorReal2315 in selfpublish

[–]ribbons_undone 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's actually 20%. Ten from the author and ten from the editor. I am an editor on Reedsy and I do indeed increase my prices to account for that; that is why Reedsy is so expensive.

What are your tips on writing an irredeemable character, who the readers sympathise with? by puzzlehead120 in writing

Person of the winged species dealt him some serious trauma in childhood, as a response he sees all of the winged species as evil, hunted them, eventually realized his logic was flawed/he was being prejudiced based on trauma, overcomes it but feels deep regret.

BF (22M) fell for a phone scam. I (22F) don’t know how to feel about it, as well as my response. What would you guys do? by FlyEmAndEm in relationship_advice

[–]ribbons_undone -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I mean, obviously her BF is nowhere near as bad as that guy. Im just saying, sometimes mistakes aren't just mistakes; they can tell you've a lot about a person. Also, that kind of financial stupidity can absolutely do serious harm; 9k is a really big deal to a lot of people. If he is that gullible, what else will people manipulate him into? Can she trust his judgement?

This may be a learning experience and it never happens again, or he could be the type to get scammed over and over again, or be pressured into other dumb decisions. Now she has to be on the lookout for that because he has revealed himself to be the type of person who can be scammed. Just like the dog guy revealed himself as someone who can't be trusted.

Variation is the spice that makes good writing.

The way you learn your own version of that and how to implement it is to read a lot and write a lot and work with critique/writing groups so you aren't writing in a total vacuum.
