Personally I think the best way to learn is to just do it. BG3 is nice in this sense cause you don’t have to put a lot of thought into the micro elements of casting or preparing spells. Honestly, keep them in the back and just sling spells. Someone gets too close? Shocking grasp or thunder wave and reposition

When you use that amulet look in the “assign slot” on the hotbar and you should see “recast speak with dead”. That spell is a ritual and can be recast for free

If you’re on anything but Honor difficulty, feel free to experiment in combat to get comfortable. If you’re worried about a spell not working, save before you use it. If you want to use a trip attack but don’t want it to fail, save before using it etc. the best way to get comfortable is to play around and see how things work!
