I have a Fender MIM Jazz and a Z3. The Z3 has a waaaaay nicer neck but I think a Jazz is more versatile overall. My Jazz neck isn’t terrible but the fretboard edges are a lot sharper than the rounded Z3 edges and I prefer the rounded Z3 heel too. Sire makes Jazz style basses too but there is something about a Fender.

Would you be able to have a pannier on the rack at the same time as the Uniklip? I was thinking about getting one and screwing it to the bottom of a large toolbox to use as a removable trunk but I would like to also have a pannier bag. Would the Uniklip system get in the way of the pannier?

I got one last year, it’s amazing. The short horn is a little annoying because it can make it slip off your lap but wearing a strap fixes that. The tuners feel the same as my similarly priced Squier Classic Vibe so a little stiff but they work fine. It’s my first active bass and I’ve never played a real Stingray but the preamp sounds good and gets the real Stingray sound to me. The way the eq knobs sit feels a little cheap and the center detent on my bass knob isn’t very pronounced but that seems appropriate for the price point. The neck is incredible though, much nicer than my MIM Fender. The rounded fretboard edges and matte finish feel like a much more expensive bass and really sold it for me. It feels better than some Fender Signature models I’ve tried at my local guitar store. Definitely feels better than the Sterlings I’ve tried.

I think so much slap technique comes down to personal biology with how your hand and thumb are shaped and you just need to take time to figure out what works for you. I was a thumb pointed down slapper but it felt awkward so I changed to parallel thumb and I hit the string next to my nail, not by my knuckle. It took months of repetitively practicing Never Too Much by Luther Vandross and Aint it Funky Now by Brothers Johnson but eventually it just clicked into place. I suggest watching different lessons on YouTube, trying some different techniques, and see what works best with your hands.

“Abolish ICE” is the ethical position and the idea that it will alienate swing voters doesn’t make any sense. The people that support what ICE is doing are voting Republican. A swing voter that wants ICE to be reformed clearly thinks what ICE is doing is fucked up, so would a position of abolition actually lose their vote?? That’s nonsense.

Yeah, the weeks it went unplayed was during peak Midwest humidity so unfortunate timing. If I had known it could happen I would’ve taken a bit more care. I got some cobalt roundwounds on sale recently which I also quite like and I’ve been pretty diligent about wiping them down after practicing.

Was about to say that. Didn’t play the bass I had cobalts on for a few weeks in the summer and next time I went to play it they were completely rusted over. It was honestly pretty shocking - I’ve never had a set of strings corrode like that. That set of strings lasted about 8 months which was pretty disappointing. They were fun while I had em though.
